We're talking family reunion here. A couple hundred ears of corn
    minimum.

Eeeeegads. How do you cook that much corn?
    Goomba

A small town near me has their annual sweet corn festival, where they serve
thousands of ears over a three day period. They use an antique agricultural
steam engine (Case) to provide the steam to cook the corn.

Plain and hot. Maybe a leetle bit of butter and a very little bit of
    salt. Lime? Chili Powder? Jeez.

Hey now, I didn't say *I* ate those things! lol
But on the occasions that I've gone to the fair and such here, I always see
people using those things on the corn. Like I said, for me, butter, some
    salt, pepper.

Well, remember that at many of those fairs, the corn isn't all that
fresh. I can get corn on the cob here, but not *fresh* corn on the
cob. I wish it was best plain and natural, but alas the flavor just
    isn't there.

    Alexis.

We recently had a dinner party (the menu and recipes were posted here), and
one of the dishes served was corn on the cob. The corn itself was done on
the grill, and it was served with the silk removed and husks tied after
being pulled down (made it easy to hold). I made several butters to
accompany the corn, but in the end, I preferred plain old butter with salt
    and lots of pepper.

I forgot to mention...The corn is free---all you can eat.

  13. I wholeheartedly reccomend trying smoked corn, if you haven't.

BTW - good tip for buttering your corn: butter a piece of bread and
roll the ear in the bread! The corn gets evenly buttered, you get a
warm piece of bread with melted butter, and no drippings to clean up.

I would never ruin something as yummy as corn with something as yucky as
    smoke flavor. :-)

  15. Raw! Uncooked! Pristine kernels, preferably right off the stalk.

Yumma. Or briefly boiled, slathered with butter and salt. I don't much
like to mess with my corn on the cob.

  17. I have a plethora of suaces, seasonings, herbs and spices; I'm the only
person that I know that can pull grains of paradise out of my cupboard
and buy saffron by the ounce ( I do gift some - nice accoutrement to a
kitchen gift) - so I am into seasoning and flavouring ... maybe a bit
too much according to my family.

But the corn must be taken pure.
