Dura-ace downtube shifters and Ultegra rear mech

If it's 9-speed equipment, it will all work fine together. Dura Ace, Ultegra, 105, mix and match
as you like.

You're old fashioned. ;-)

To me it doesn't make any sense to have the shifters anywhere but on the handlebars...bar-end
shifters are only 20 bucks more!

When these were introduced, Dura-Ace was the only 9-speed system in existence, hence the warning.

Subsequently, 9-speed has become ubiquitous, but Shimano hasn't bothered re-doing the printed
materials supplied with these very slow-selling units.

Despite what it says, these levers are compatible with ALL Shimano 9-speed equipment.

Thanks ppl! Thats gr8 news!....I have brazed-on sockets on my frame so I need to stick with the
downtube shifters..... and I'm an old stick in the mud ...lol :o) Thanks for the replies.. Jon.

If 8s DA shifters, route the inner wire on top of the fixing bolt of the rear der for 8s spaced
shifting. If 9s shifters, use any rear der except DA 8s...

If you mean brazed-on mounts for shifters, you are still not stuck unless you want to stay stuck.
There is a widely available set of bolt-on adjustable cable stops available for those brazed mounts.
I used a set to upgrade my Pinarello to STI.

Nope. All handlebar-mounted shifters intended for drop bar use come with cable stops that attach to
those braze-ons.

If the shifters are of the 9spd variety, they should work fine. If they are pre-9 spd, then they
won't index properly. YOu have to match the older Dura-Ace shifters with older dura-ace rear
derailleurs.
