Where the hell is Jame Carney when you need him? I want some pro inside gossip. Oh, yeah, Jame is
out representing the good ol' U S of A at track worlds. Is there anyone else on the team this year?
How could we go from being first in the team standings of the track world cup last year to having
nobody in the top 10 of anything yet. Yeah, BMX-ers. Great.

So, O'Neill crashed out of 'Toona today? Or will he start? Leiswyn crashed and broke his chain and
couldn't get team support because the car was up the road with the break. COOL! Can't wait for his
next diary. I bet he was thrilled.

Dudes, I'm going to the SFGP in Sept. They have a women's race this year. I hear the Pro guys are
putting triples on. Yeah, like I am gonna drop $300 bucks into a Dura Ace triple for one race. Not
on my salary. Still, four blocks of 18% grade? I am gonna die.

From the brief clip of the Scratch Race I saw today J-me had a go from about 15 laps out, but no one
went with him, and as he got caught it all went off and he was left at the back of the bunch.

The cheap solution to that is a 27 cog, or a 30 cog and a shimano MTB derailleur (and a longer
chain). works fine, takes very little time to switch.

Although the race is defined by the hills, a lot of the big loop of the course is flat (and I think
there is a headwind). So it isn't necessarily a solo ride-away, altho with Jeanson you never know.

Nope, haven't ridden up Fillmore.

The report I have from the men in the race last year is that they all put on the Frisbees in the
back. The year before guys came with 23 and 25 and you'd see everyone doing the paperboy. Not so
last year - almost everyone went straight.

BTW, if you're by yourself at any point in the race, whether off the back or off the front, play it
up a little. Make it look like you're really, really suffering. The crowd turns it up a few extra
notches for the racers who look like they're having their teeth drilled.

Myself, having climbed Fillmore several times in a 39x23 in my large frame, but likely not anywhere
near race pace, yes you can do it without a triple. If you use a triple then you're not racing.

Most of the guys (contenders) Big-Ring Fillmore, then go to the small ring the final block. Some
Big-Ring Taylor all the way up even!
