My store had these on sale today for 67 cents a pound. Now I can't
decide how to cook them. I don't want to make soup stock since I have a
lot of it already in my freezer. What are your favourite methods? I
thought about marinating and roasting, but can't decide....tia Sharon

Are they right legs or left legs? Some recipes call for left
legs, some right, and some a few of each

    It does make a difference.

    LOL

😄 hey biig, I think it is because of how the chicken pees, which leg
it stands on when it pees, which makes the leg slightly different in
    texture..!

Chickens, like humans lost in the desert or jungle, wander around
in clock-wise circles. Therefore the left leg gets more exercise
and will be tougher and tastier than the right legs.

I'm not sure how they pee though. Om? I would think that would
act as a tenderizer and they would tend to cook quicker. Might
wanna soak those in milk first.

Pure crystal Uric Acid excreted with the [censored].
That's that white stuff that is part of a bird turd.
Birds do not "pee" like mammals do.

All birds in the same family as chickens also have no penises.
    Neither do doves/pigeons.
    Waterfowl do, so do ratites.
    Most reptiles have two.

Now did you REALLY want to know that on a food group? <smirk>

    You asked.......

Birds can't burp either which is precisely why you shouldn't feed them
    alka seltzer!

<snork> What do I know. I'm still trying to figure out if the
eggs get fertilized before or after they're laid.

Two penises? How convenient. I can think of dozens of things I
    could do with two penises.

Well that is confusing! As an old farm boy I've often seen the rooster
mount the hen and hump like .... well you get the picture. If he
doesn't have a penis, just what in the hell is he doing? Help!

Ok, well Jimbo doesn't know how to quote. But just to set the record
straight, I said none of the above but do agree that chickens have no
    penises.

What about taking the bone out then stuff it with various fillings
inside, wrap them, then roast them.... mmm...

Before... and the hens can store sperm for up to 2 weeks for further egg
fertilization. ;-) I've been on poultry lists for several years.

BTW, Fiesta had Rib eye and T-bones on sale for $3.99 in case you are
interested. They are good too! I had a couple of marinted and grilled
rib eye last night. Pic to follow on the binary list...

And I bought more chicken feet.

Neither do doves/pigeons, quail, gunieas, turkeys, pheasants and all the
other myriad birds in that family.

    Neither do most amphibians.

Slow smoke them over a hickory or pecan wood fire.

Fry them in rendered chicken fat or bacon grease.

I browned them in oil, then removed them from the pan and the excess
oil, them browned a lot of coursely chopped onion, add some garlic, then
some flour and cooked it slowly until the flour was browning. I added
can of chicken broth and simmered it to integrate everything. Instead
of adding the chicken back into the pan and covering it for braising, I
put it in the slow cooker for about 6 hours on med-low. I thought the
sauce a little bland, so I added dried tarragon , sage and basil to
taste. The only skillet I have that's big enough for all the chicken,
doesn't have a lid, so this worked out great. Really tender. I served
it and the sauce over rice with a side of roasted
    asparagus....yummm....Sharon
