  1. Hi all . . Running a 5k tmorrow morning. I have only done 2 before and they were both last summer.
Weather forcast for tomorrow is sunny and 45-50 at race time in the morning. I was thinking shorts &
t-shirt along with a windbreaker. Would a long-sleeve Tshirt be better??

    Suggestions?

Have you run in these conditions before? Have you raced in these conditions before?

(not that the temps are dramatic by any stretch...)

If you're planning on *racing* the 5k, regardless of your pace, the "usual" rule of thumb is to
figure on adding about 20 degrees fareheit to the ambient temp, and that's what it will feel like to
your body. IOW, dress like it would be 65-70 degrees, as once you hit your stride in the race pretty
much all of what you are planning on wearing will be too much.

But again, everyone is different and reacts to weather in all its forms differently...for me, shorts
and singlet would do just fine for the race, with something warmer for your pre-race routine....

  4. I go for shorts and a long sleeve T. If you have a friend handy wear that windbreaker until the last
few seconds and pass it off. You won't want it after the first k or two.

I would wear shorts and t-shirt, possibly sleeveless, with my lucky red, white and blue wristbands,
which keep my hands warm. However thats just me and I go pretty fast. You would probably be
comfortable with a long sleeve t-shirt and shorts. You can always warm up with a wind breaker and
wind pants on and shed them right before the start. Good luck. . .

  6. I have run whens it's cool like this before. I usually wear the windbreaker but end up sweating up
the inside a bunch. The few races I have run in the past, I tend to push a little harder than my
normal runs which I suppose is normal. I'll have to try and park close or find somewhere to stash
    the jacket before the start.
