#53 I really love having my face, arms and legs whipped and torn by overhanging foliage, nettles and brambles.
I'm having "discussions" with my local council about this one! They seem to be studiously ignoring one particular brambly stretch, whilst other bits get lovingly trimmed back with nail scissors at least once a day.

A few days back two traffic wardens were there, waving at cyclists who were in the road and pointing to the cycle lane. I ignored them.
Ignored them? Shame on you! You could at least have returned their cheery greeting with another wave, of whichever variety was most appropriate ;-)
Well, you'd need to indicate that the wave was directed to both of them, perhaps you could somehow indicate 'two' by incorporating some sort of hand-signal in the wave?
Hm. Quite a few repetitions - for example, 13, 16, 37, 41 and 47 could be lumped into 'debris on the path'.
I don't understand 7 and 46.
# upmpty : The people who use them have the cerebral development of this poster / a plod / a judge, and are not safe to be left wandering unsupervised.

7. Because the police have recommended it.
I think the assumption here is that the police are intent on reducing civil liberties in order to make their job easier.
46. On that cycle path? Only with a weapons' licence!
One cycle path that I regularly use is a popular haunt of cider drinkers - I imagine that in some neighbourhoods the friendly wino may be replaced by a crystal meth user with an automatic weapon.
Thanks for that - I think i've read the German version ages ago. Talking about bicycle tracks... I just browsed through our great new weekly regional newspaper, The North West Enquirer. And I came across this article in the comments section: http://www.nw-enquirer.co.uk/comment/controversy/cycle_tracked_200608041234.html Basically the author complains that on his (pedestrian) way to work in Manchester a lot of bicycles use the pavement instead of the street or designated cycle tracks. I'm quite tempted to write a comment in reaction to this article to clarify some of the misconceptions about cycling and bicycle tracks.
Sorry, temporary attack of sanity, I'll try breathing into a paper bag and repeating our local cycling strategy mantra "vibrant cycling culture, vibrant cycling clutter, vibrating cyclist klutz.......

Our local flagship facility, the Spen Valley Greenway, is a favourite place for the local kids to smoke dope.
