  1. Just looking for opinions on what people like to run to if they listen to music on their
    daily runs....

Right now I created my own Best of AC-DC. It seems Heavy Music gets me going, but I am always
    looking for more ideas...

    Would love some recommendations!!

    Thanks

  2. Some Classical some Irish Reels and maybe the Pointer Sisters Jump for your love.

  3. The Battlefield band, any CD.

  4. AC/DC huh? I think your heavy metal remark is just a smokescreen. You jog to Celine Dion don't you?

  5. A Wagner opera usually works for me.

If you're looking for something heavy with a steady beat:

Mortal Kombat Annihilation original motion picture soundtrack.

Hard hitting, and great for exercise.

However, it also gives you the urge to run really fast which is not always a good thing. For really
hard speed work or a race, I'd really prefer to just not have any music at all.

For an easy run, I prefer something a little more relaxing. Robert Miles (trance), Jocylyn Pook, Jon
Jenkins , (atmospheric new age stuff), etc. When I'm not running, I'm a big fan of jazz, but I don't
think of bebop as running music. I suppose Miles Davis's more spacey experimental stuff might work
(e.g. [censored] Brew) My MP3 player is fairly new, so I'm still experimenting with the music
    selection.

    Cheers,

If I were to listen to music when I run, which I won't, it would be techno with the heaviest of a
pounding bass beat that aids getting me into the trance that takes a little longer by just using my
own rhythms of breath and cadence of foot steps.

Same here, Ozzie. I love music of all kinds, but electronic (or "techno"😉 is what I would consider
the best suited to such a steadily rhythmic activity as running. You could even go so far as to
choose music that has the number of BPM that you'd like to run that day. I don't run with music
(though I've tried a couple of times and actually found it distracting), but if I did, it would
likely be the music of BT, FSOL, The Grid, Leftfield, Apollo 440, 808State, or The New Deal.

    Cheers,

jazz is very cool, but as you say, it may not lend itself well to helping you run with the beat.
maybe on long runs, where you're not as concerned with a steady, fast cadence, jazz would be fine
just listening and keeping the mind engaged during that long time on the road (or trail).

    R. Miles.... not bad, but not my favourite electro music.

  14. My iriver MP3 player is full of Eminem, Linkin Park/Executioners, Limp Bizkit, Saliva, Korn, POD,
Metallica, Sugar Ray, Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Im still experimenting with the order, trying to find a relatively consistent beat/cadence from song
to song with a few of the faster ones interspersed for some speed work.

I tend to "run angry" when im listening to music but it keeps me from slacking off when i get tired.
I only use it for hills, sprints, and my hardest long runs.

  16. I just record music on a 120 min cassette tape from on the Rock digital music channel that's on our
cable system. Doing this ensures I get the format of music that I want and never know what is coming
on next. It's like commercial-free radio......

What? You don't steal music from Kazaa like the rest of us?

  18. Jimmy Buffett is always nice to listen to while you run.

Yes, if you like to vomit while you run.
