    I bought a 2 hp grinder at Cabela's for $49.95.

I've only ever looked at Waring blenders.

What brand is yours and how do you like it?

Nowadays butchers/meatcutters don't clean anything. A cleaning crew
comes in after hours and steam cleans everything, including the
grinder, saw, work tables, walls, floors, everything. The only
cleaning the grinder sees during the day is when the type of meat is
changed, say from beef to pork, then a half loaf of cheap white bread
is pushed through, that's it. Stupidmarkets will have no more than
two grinders, but one is kept on standby just in case the one in use
conks out. There is no reason to have more than one meat grinder in
use, those big commercial grinders are capable of handling 20lbs of
meat per minute, probably more.... my little home grinder does 4lbs/
    minute.

I've not measured just how fast mine grinds, but it's fast enough that
we have to really go for it to keep up with it. :-)

    It's really awesome.

The grinder or the blender? :-)

The blender is and Oster and it works fine.

The grinder? Ok, you are making me get up to read the box and stuff. I
bought it at Cabela's and it had the Cabela's logo on it. Dad peeled it
off and I chewed him out for doing that! <G>

    Let's see...

Say's Cabela's heavy duty Butcher shop and smokehouse meat grinder.
One of the package inserts says PragoTrade.

    It's model # 33-0101

Seems it is a proprietary unit marketed for Cabela's.

As for how do I like it??? I LOVE it!

I don't know which grinder you have (capacity should be in the manual)
but even the smallest electric home grinder will handle about 3lbs/
min... many commercial grinders the sze used at stupidmarkets can
grind a pound a second, about a ton and a half an hour:

But the real guage of a home grinder is how many pounds and inches
yours can handle... I bet yours has a PPI rating marked right on it!
    hehe

    Those are lewd! ;-D

For fresh pork sausage I tend towards making patties, much easier to
prepare and they cook up crispy... but I get your point... you like
boy sausage like how I like girl sausage.

It must have been a close out sale.... which one looks similar to you?

    <giggles>

Yeah, I know I could just freeze it in patties, but stuffing is FUN.

    <smirk>

It was actually 1/2 pork and 1/2 turkey breast.

I did. :-) It was a Black Friday sale, probably slated to drag people
into the store to shop for LOTS of Christmas presents.

    Will do!
Thing is, the newspaper ad only comes out one day before and since I
don't have a subscription, I got lucky and chanced across the ad at work
    from a discarded newspaper!

    It was fortuitous.

Cabela's has very reasonable shipping rates, and first class customer
    service.

Oh I SO agree with the customer service thing based on personal
    experience on returns!

Didn't know about shipping rates as they are less than 20 miles away
    here.

The store is awesome. I'm putting together a virtual tour of their
store. I need another photography session there...

Right now I only have a bunch of the taxidermy stuff, and some good
    shots of the aquarium.

At the very least I need shots of their food court to keep it on topic.

So, you've ground your own beef. What do you add after to make the
burgers? Do you add an egg? What seasonings? Bread crumbs?

i especially like to add a splash of garlic infused bourbon, the
cheaper the better, and not the bitter tasting charcoal filtered ones.
also very good on steaks. also good w/o the garlic.

    I'll have to check that.
I use a LOT of shoyu so get it at the Asian market in 1 qt. containers.

Don't recall the brand at the moment. I tend to try different ones as
they have a lot of choices.

    Thanks for the recommend!

I'm going to jump in here and ditto what kili says. The mushroom soy

That is meatloaf ingredients. Hamburgers are best wiht pure beef. Salt,
pepper, ketchup after it is cooked, cheese optional.
