Okay, it can't be real maple syrup, I'll give you that.
But of all the brands on the market that are labeled "light," Cary's is the one that tastes most like real maple syrup IMO. The worst is Log Cabin, which has some sort of odd lemony taste.
I want to be able to enjoy pancakes and waffles without all the guilt. So far, it is working.

I think that's why they label themselves as "pancake" syrup now. They don't have any maple at all. And log cabin is lemony. If I'm buying a pancake syrup I get aunt jemima. But we don't have pancakes or waffles that often, so I usually just get real maple.

Is that what it is, I remember saying it tasted metallic. That was way, way back when I was a kid.
My bil made 'maple syrup' once when we were visiting. Not sure exactly how, but I think he just made simple syrup and added maple flavoring. I imagine someone could do something similar with Splenda.

That is not maple syrup. That is artificially flavoured artificially sweetened syrup.
