"This is the best handling bike we’ve tested.” That’s what Triathlon Plus magazine said about the Ultravox TI (Team Issue).

I didn't know that elbow steerers were in a position to comment on that as I never knew they could ride around corners without falling off in their sluggos.

I think that's the review of the Ultravox SAFE-TI model, spesh build for the TryAthletes. [IMG ALT=""]http://www.cyclingforums.com/content/type/61/id/292609/width/350/height/700[/IMG]

  2. Does anyone know Leigh Schilling? He races all over the joint, and wears red Hampton Cycles stuff.
He smashed himself pretty bad this morning.
Apparently, he ploughed into the back of a parked or stopping car while hammering quite fast.
Fark! I suppose he's lucky it wasn't worse.

Tweets [IMG]pbs.twimg.comimage normal.jpg[/IMG]Leigh Schilling ‏@LeighSchill6h update: @LeighSchill from Jade: stable in ICU with broken wrist, finger, T8 vertebrate, jaw, 3 less teeth, liver split, but in good spirits

  3. not a bad effort. When I did that when I was 15 I only smashed 3 teeth, split my chin open and possibly broke my nose. He's done heaps more damage.

lawl. Bit of a clean out at GE. Cookie got the [censored]..... so did Davis, but daahhh... Cookie. Performance or possible past 'performance' issues that could surface?

They were always gonna have a clean out. Problem was they'd signed half these blokes up on two year contracts. I might have mentioned this before, but Danny Clark apparently outsprinted Davis up in Queensland at the end of a world championship training ride - sprint to the 60 sign. Sixty year olds shouldn't be schooling so called protour level sprinters, training ride or not.

  5. Hey F1 fans.... have any of you seen Rush yet? And if so, how about a moffie review.

  6. The QI Elves ‏@qikipedia3h
In the 1760s, 33 [censored] Lane, London was believed to be haunted by a ghost called Scratching [censored].

  7. I saw Rush and enjoyed it. Go to the cinema to watch it, the racing scenes are best on the big screen.

Lauda and Hunt's relationship was captured pretty well. They had an "[censored], [censored] you" thing going on. Some artistic license was used in the story, like Hunt beating the [censored] out of a journalist who called Lauda an ugly cnut after his face was melted off.

Surprising crash scene early in the movie. The surprise was realising that what I initially thought was a crashed car the driver had been removed from was actually one where only the driver's head had been relocated.

  8. OK. Thanks. That last sentence....

  9. Scott Watters sacked (St Kilda coach)

  10. Lamarexia success! In the interests of transparency, here are my scientific charts. Left one is 2012. I started keeping records again on Aug 1st, then I decked it and had weeks off work so I needed to make sure I didn't blow out... worked a treat.

So I'm down 0.6kg in the last 6 days. I'd rather that be a full keg.... I'll take it as a win. ~3500calories/0.45356kgs... so 100g=771calories. So I'm hovering at -771 calories/day deficit. All theory. All good.

28 days to Bright. Another 2.8kgs will get me where I want to be. I'm about a week ahead of where I was last year. Few big weekends on the bike coming up.... this will test things. I'll weigh in again next Friday. Don't wish me luck, it'll weigh something.

  11. Jeez, 74.4? Did you feel like a porker? :-)
    How tall are ya?

  12. 181cm... so 5'11. Don't really fell like a unit at 74. I've been up to 83-84 a lloonnggg time ago.

  13. ah, I didn't think you were that tall.

  14. Lammie - do you reckon you're putting on muscle mass at the moment... or are you just 'steady state' as far as training goes?

No muscle mass, I don't think. I have never been 'big' even when I'm flying. 350-400w on the pedals really isn't all that hard to do... it is doing it for x minutes that counts, so cardio. Most of my training is focused around the specifics of whatever event is coming up. Right now it is 18min blocks focusing on the demands of the new Bright TT course. I'll get into some longer steady state climbs this weekend and beyond. Protein intake is up to help maintain what I have. I've typed too much. I should be using this time to do burpees or star jumps.

Yep. Like vette I enjoyed it, it was Hollywood stylee, and probably glossed over the racing more than I expected, but a pleasant entertainment. It'll stand up as one of the better racing movies ever made, although that's a pretty low bar. I'm a bit of an F1 obsessive, so knew the real story inside out, and yep, plenty of artistic license with the details, but close enough. More about Lauda than the Hunt-centric trailers had you expecting, which was good. Take the missus. She'll enjoy the Hemsworth eye candy and it's a good enough story that non-racing fans have enough character stuff to get into. So yeah, it's good, but somehow not quite great.

ha. This might be what you're referring to (I dunno if it's common knowledge), but: I once saw a doco about eating disorders or something........something to do with a psych hospital, and one of the patients said it was hard to sleep, coz they could hear all the anorexics and bulimics doing star jumps in their rooms all night.

Does your power change when your weight fluctuates?

  18. Here's my hi-tech training log for October. :-)

The red dots represent the 'hard' (pffft) days, and have a ranking out of 4; well, it's really out of 3, coz a '4' is for the very rare, super-hard and long ride that i probably do about 3 or 4 times a year. No dots obviously means I just rolled around with my HR anywhere from 100 to ~115.
    :-)
One dot means I did some slack grinding in zone 2 or 3, and 2 dots represents TT-type intensity, and the bigger the dots, the longer the 'bursts'. Three dots means I did some of my anaerobic pseudo intervals, but if the dots are small, it means it was only a few efforts.

A large first dot followed by a smaller 2nd dot means I spent a long time in zone 2 and 3, with some short bursts at TT pace (probably just to pass and drop someone, then lost interest coz they didn't or couldn't chase me. Ha).

Yes, I've been a bit slack. I kid meself that I'm serious, but I've only 15,185km so far this year, and I'm at least 3 or 4kg over weight. If anyone's wondering why there's no easy block, it's coz I haven't been training hard enough.

Who reckons I can package and sell this as "Nifty Nev's Training Systems"? Ha. Hmmm, "NNTS" has a nice ring to it.. Ha

Saw it a few weeks ago. Basically wot 'vette and beebers said.

Entertaining, bit of artistic licence but worth watching. Don't expect high art.

  20. damn your weight hasn't changed all that much over the year. are you entered in the masters or elites at bright?
