  1. So, you may remember this dimwit:

And of course, after finally figuring out that he stepped all over his [censored], he posted this half-
    baked apology:

    groups.google.comgroups

    (Uhhh, linewrap again)

Well, I agreed to meet him today at 1300. After he [censored] and moaned about the place I chose
(whining about the beer and the food and the service,) I offered to let him choose a different one.
After a bit of monkeying about, selecting a different place, then changing his mind, he finally
agreed to meet me at the first place I chose. After a lot of posturing and veiled threats, I finally
blocked his e-mail address after telling him not to mail me anymore. His big line - "I can't wait to
    meet you."

Well, last Tuesday, I get a call from a former Portland State colleague of mine who wanted to shoot
the [censored] over his latest research, and I told him I'd love to. He says, "OK, how about Sat. at 1230
    - lunch at a decent place on the East side. Dot's Cafe - heard of it?" Uhhh, well... LOL

Then a clear vision pops into my head - one that overwhelmed me with it's sheer perfection.

Dot's Cafe had been Kraig's choice. I thought another microsecond and agreed to meet my old friend
and discuss his research. See, Kraig had to come all the way from Eugene, then hang out at a place
    he despises,

to the place he wanted to go!

So that's exactly what I did. After laughing about it with my friend, I called Kraig from Dot's -
just to make sure he showed up. To his credit, he did. Of course, from reading my postings for the
last few years, he should have known that I don't give a rat's ass what any anonymous idiot in
USENET thinks about me. He may want to paint me in some unflattering terms, but if he knew me at
    all, he'd know that I

Kraig was right - Dot's food is pretty good. The beer? Jeez, what a tool Kraig is. Pabst? LOL. The
Kris Kringle ale at the pub I chose was great.

Now, If I had had a mind to, I could have brought some friends. Plus, they are actually "big cats"
instead of "big (around the middle) cats." But giving him the big middle finger worked just fine.
Yeah, Kraig - I saw you on the street outside the pub in your gay-ass hat and black coat. My pal and
I were laughing so hard I almost drove off the road. We went and parked, then went into the pub and
had a nice KK ale. With him standing outside. LOL.

    I'm still laughing.

    the inside?

You could not have picked a more fitting end to a story about how little you know about honesty or heart. Curious that you don't care yet you sure hurried to the keyboard. It's interesting that you may(?) have gone in but that you picked the back door and/or waited until I left, especially when you are the one that stated to "Be a man, just show blah, blah, blah." Have fun looking in the mirror and knowing you couldn't even look me in the eyes. Your middle finger is fine (what's that they say about age or IQ?), your sqeaky voice is fine (seemed to have trouble finding your words?). I got a great deal on some new mallet pedals while up there! Spent the day with some family up there. Thank you for showing your true colors, this was just perfect. Have fun with your life and may you eventually find some peace with yourself.

    K.

    P.S.
Fools are known to laugh, a lot.

In distilling the story, I removed it's very essense. Without wasting much more time on this, I'll
tell you how it went down:

1.) Two happy circumstances that resulted in subtle irony, and

2.) I only wanted to see if he showed up. I really didn't care to waste my precious time off with
    the likes of him.

Heh. Your opinion of my character means exactly what? Nothing to me.

    Quoted message said:

Curious that you don't care yet you sure hurried to the keyboard.

Shall I recall the e-mail where I promised to report the outcome? Did you say something about
    "honesty", again?

Back door? No, the one off the terrace. The ones by the restrooms are the "back door" as far as I'm
concerned. I have my Visa reciept from 1345, if you care...

And you did. Hurray for you.

    Quoted message said:

I won't have any problems with that. I don't respect you or your opinion, nor do I care what others
in USENET think of me. When I had a chance to meet with an old friend, and blow off a useless turd
    like you? Total gravy, buddy.

    Quoted message said:

It's called "trying not to laugh." Sorry it wasn't to your liking. Not really.

    Quoted message said:

So, no loss on your part. I don't feel too badly in any case.

You are a real class act there spider, I mean jonesy. Since you don't care about anything that occurs here (we ALL believe that, yep) you shouldn't mind leaving it at this: based on YOUR text and/or statements (I can forward those emails back to you) you are a liar and a coward. Have a great life. I really DO hope you figure things out for yourself.

You are a real class act there spider, I mean jonesy.

And your opinion is meaningful, how? You just *don't get it.* Here I thought you were bright.
    My mistake.

    Quoted message said:

Since you don't care about anything that occurs here

Here in a.m-b.? Damn straight. Pop quiz for you, there, dimwit: if you or I disappeared tomorrow
(that is, never again posted in a.m-b.) who, exactly would shed a tear? Who would really *care*?
"Hey, haven't heard from Jonesy in a while - wonder what's up?" That's being very charitable, of
course. And the answer would be...

    [crickets chirping]

Of course, with no answer, the issue would be forgotten. And the new posters would come and go, just
like the rest of USENET. Most likely,

self-importance wears thin after a while.

    Quoted message said:

you shouldn't mind leaving it at this: based on YOUR text and/or statements (I can forward those
emails back to you) you are a liar and a coward.

Again (and your commentary is exactly as predicted), your opinion means nothing to me. As I told you
on the phone, I have nothing to prove - and that includes you or anyone else on USENET.

    Quoted message said:

Have a great life. I really DO hope you figure things out for yourself.

I love irony. That's why playing you has been such a pleasure. From your first indignant moralizing
comments to now, I have laughed at your self-importance. Giving you the finger is all the more sweet
now that I know that all your studied non-chalance and pretend-apathy was all an act (just as I
thought from the beginning.) You assigned my writings some meaning, just as I knew you would. Funny
thing, that. But the most delicious and hilarious irony has been your attempts to lecture me on
    character after writing this:

    groups.google.comgroups
    8&frame=right&th=788c1fbc4ea6bcde&seekm=3fa970b5_4%40news.chariot.net.au#link1

    (mind the linewrap)

A person with character doesn't go and make these sorts of accusations without knowing something
more than some guy's initials. A person of character, after finding out what an incredible [censored]
he was for suggesting such "terrible things," and telling folks to pick friends more carefully,
would apologize completely, without reservation or mitigation. At the *very* least, a person of
character would find out the truth away from the public eye.

Your attempted lectures on character, honesty and maturity fall miserably flat and hypocritical -
which you still seem to have not figured out for yourself. I treated you as I would any other no-
class turd - as something to be wiped from the bottom of my shoe, with a look of distaste and
annoyance. Someday, when you grow up, you'll realize that some of what you say (and write) leaves a
lasting impression. I'd no sooner share my time with you than I would with any other piece of [censored]
    lying in the gutter.

But wait - maybe I *do* owe you an apology for the small inconvenience I caused. Here, let's use
this one, since it's so obviously heart-felt and has worked so well in the past:

"Makes little difference to me. If I was wrong, I was wrong and sincerly [sic] apologize and take
full responsibility for being so. Do what you will with the apology."

You are spending way too much energy on something you care not about. Let it go jonesy. You puffed your chest, got called on it and cried no joy. You are not the first and certainly not the last. It's OK. You tried, it's over, move on. Life is too short for you to fixate on something like this. Like you said bro, nobody here would miss either of us. This place is not real, that's why many spend so much time here and act all tough sometimes.

Like you mentioned I stepped on my junk big-time with ol' man Daniels and "tried" to set it straight (can't really "force" someone to accept an apology). Can't do it in private. His listed email is not accurate. My anger at the jd I do know is valid and still there (he IS evil; I won't bore you with ALL the details). The jd here can just be an a-hole and that's not a crime I don't think (it's not in my code book anyway!). I could not feel like any more of a jackass (I'm not a big fan of being wrong) for being wrong about jd, but you wouldn't know that since you didn't take the chance to meet and get some perspective on the whole picture. There is no "unringing" that bell once you've struck it.

It's not important if you care. It's not important if we see eye to eye. Honesty would be great, consistency would be cool as well though. There are very few people I DO wish ill will towards jonesy and you are NOT one of them. Since I don't wish you ill it should not be that odd for me to hope you (and most everyone else) would find peace and maybe even joy in their lives. Take it graciously maybe. Whatever though huh? Live well (really).

You are spending way too much energy on something you care not about.

Junior psychiatry doesn't fit you well either. I spend hours playing poker with the guys. It's fun
and all, but I don't really care much. IOW, if I didn't play again with them, I wouldn't have any
problem. This is entertainment for me - another thing you seem to have missed in all your attempts
to climb up on your high horse. So, therefore, even though I spend time yanking your chain, that
doesn't mean that I give it another moment's thought once I'm doing my Real Life(tm) thing.

    Quoted message said:

Let it go jonesy. You puffed your chest, got called on it and cried no joy.

LOL. You got trolled, you bit, I played you, and you got ditched. You can spin it into something
more noble or meaningful than that, but that's merely *your* perception.

    Quoted message said:

You are not the first and certainly not the last.

Why is it, do you think, that folks treat you like this? Could it be a flaw in you?

    Quoted message said:

It's OK. You tried, it's over, move on.

LOL. Dude, I moved on a long time ago. Now I'm just having a little fun.

    Quoted message said:

Life is too short for you to fixate on something like this.

The junior psychiatry thing doesn't fit you well - you need to find another suit.

    Quoted message said:

Like you said bro, nobody here would miss either of us. This place is not real, that's why many
spend so much time here and act all tough sometimes.

No, wrong again. I spend time here because it's a nice break from waiting for my stuff to do it's
thing. And to talk about bicycles. When some a-hole starts spouting [censored] about folks breaking
girlfriend's arms and all that - then it's time to have some fun. Are you even tuned to receive the
    picture here?

    Quoted message said:

Like you mentioned I stepped on my junk big-time with ol' man Daniels and "tried" to set it
straight (can't really "force" someone to accept an apology).

Here's a hint, Mr. Courage - try and find the words for a *sincere* apology. Like without any
equivocation. That's what people with real character do.

    Quoted message said:

    Can't do it in private.

After being a [censored] in public? Nothing is more cowardly than shouting [censored] to the rooftops, then
slinking to the basement to mutter a half-assed apology. Your soapbox-climbing spiels on cowardice
and courage sure are rich. Especially anonymously - that's the one that really has me ROTFL.

    Quoted message said:

His listed email is not accurate.

So you swallow your over-inflated pride and say in public, "J.D. - I was way wrong. I shouldn't have
called you out in public, and I apologize."

Whether or not the other guy accepts - well, that's really not in your control. You only control
what *you* do. Character is about *you*, and what *you* do.

    Quoted message said:

My anger at the jd I do know is valid and still there (he IS evil; I won't bore you with ALL the
    details).

Mr. Courage shows his stripes again. More cowardly innuendo. Yeah, your lecture on courage is sure
meaningful. Here's the fact, Mr. Wonderful: you're all full of B.S. and electronic courage, but
when shown the other side of the coin, you're indignant and full of self-importance. Your bald-
faced hypocrisy should be evident even to the most clueless.

    Quoted message said:

The jd here can just be an a-hole and that's not a crime I don't think (it's not in my code book
    anyway!).

Yeah, and so can just about everyone. It's no crime, and some of what he dishes out is well-
deserved. Some isn't, but hey - nobody's perfect. Except you, of course.

    Quoted message said:

I could not feel like any more of a jackass (I'm not a big fan of being wrong) for being wrong
about jd, but you wouldn't know that since you didn't take the chance to meet and get some
perspective on the whole picture. There is no "unringing" that bell once you've struck it.

I don't need any perspective. You bashing him in private, where he's not there to defend himself,
ain't the most courageous thing. And hypocritical again - if I need to cut you some slack so that
you can give perspective, why doesn't JD get the same consideration from you?

But admitting you were a jackass is a positive step - and I give you credit for that as well.

    Quoted message said:

It's not important if you care. It's not important if we see eye to eye.

See, now this is just the kind of thing that gives me hope. That somehow, somewhere, some sort of
lesson can be taken from this.

    Quoted message said:

Honesty would be great, consistency would be cool as well though.

Well, I have been completely honest, if not forthcoming with ALL the facts, all at once. I have
heard that even the best plans do not survive contact, but with you, that law seems to have been
    suspended.

In any case, you should refrain from lecturing ANYONE on character issues. They do not seem to be
your forte - I will refer you to the less-than-honest comment about somebody being "squeaky."

    Quoted message said:

There are very few people I DO wish ill will towards jonesy and you are NOT one of them. Since I
don't wish you ill it should not be that odd for me to hope you (and most everyone else) would
find peace and maybe even joy in their lives. Take it graciously maybe. Whatever though huh?

If I thought for a moment that you could choke down the lesson I have been trying to teach you, then
I would accept your comments at face value. I'm not vindictive or cruel, and I do not bear grudges
as a rule. I have always felt that there is redemption for everyone - you, Dave W., Scotty, Travis,
"Bob Rogers", even MJV. I always hope for the best from my fellow man. Stupid and pie-in-the-sky
thinking, even for an analytical fellow like myself. But you seem to have this spin problem that
needs fixing. Pull out of your spin before you crash - it's not too late.

Time will tell if you are sincere or not.

    Live well (really).

I am. I have a family that I love, and that loves me back - including extended family and those who
have married in. I have a job that I enjoy and pays me decently (or not, if you count up the total
hours per week worked). I am healthy and whole, and have free time enough to engage in the wholly
frivolous pursuit of 1track. I am young enough to enjoy an active life, but old enough to know my
limits. I am a white, educated male in the most prosperous and free nation on the planet, which
means that I am one of the most priviledged and blessed persons to have ever walked the Earth. If
that's not living well, then I really have no idea what is.

Like you mentioned I stepped on my junk big-time with ol' man Daniels and "tried" to set it
straight (can't really "force" someone to accept an apology). Can't do it in private. His listed
email is not accurate. My anger at the jd I do know is valid and still there (he IS evil; I won't
bore you with ALL the details). The jd here can just be an a-hole and that's not a crime I don't
think (it's not in my code book anyway!). I could not feel like any more of a jackass (I'm not a
big fan of being wrong) for being wrong about jd, but you wouldn't know that since you didn't take
the chance to meet and get some perspective on the whole picture. There is no "unringing" that
    bell once you've struck it.

I'm really interested about this ficticious "JD" who is supposed to be this avid mountain biker in
GJ. Why is it I've never met him on a trail? I've lived and ridden here for nine years and have
never encountered this person who is supposed to be such the mountain biker, especially being that
he is tall and has freaky hair. That would make him much more visible. I also have this habit of
talking with other tall or big riders to see what they are riding and/or what works best for them.
Very puzzling, indeed. The bottom line is that I think that you made up this character with intent
to smear my name by calling me a deadbeat dad and a woman beater. Keep tap-dancing though because
pigs like you are more entertaining while dancing around the issues.

You've said it enough times, I believe you. I only wanted your magnificence to like me. I'm soooo lonely I just wanted some company, any company, even yours...uh, not really.

Go buy a clue, put it on a credit card it you have to. You just accused me of [censored] you've been doing. You are a liar (that means you didn't tell the truth). You act bold in a virtual world and cowardly in "real life." You commit the sins you damn others for with the same breath/keystroke. Thinking your words ruin a day or a life is pretty high and mighty thinking for someone crying that another is projecting self importance (say, doesn't that fit the criteria for you being a hypocrite as well?). You will notice that these are not opinions, they are facts (based upon your own words and actions or LACK thereof as it were).

Ramble on (if you feel you must), it truly matters not. Now THAT is my "opinion." The best part is: regardless what I think of you, no matter what you say, do, don't do, want, need, you lied, you cried, you accused me of things you've been doing. That's priceless. If getting *your* "ire" up were not so easy this *would* be fun jonsey. Thanks for the lesson teach. Time to *live* life Bob. "See" you around, the net that is.

I lived there for more or less a dozen years until the summer of '98 and we apparently never met either so...? I guess he lives in the area still, but doesn't still work for CM. I don't think he's someone you'd want to spend time with.

We all know I was wrong about who I thought you were and I can't take that back. I do feel like a jackass about it and wish it would not have occured. I am truly appologetic for it, sorry.

I think we are still going to be out there in the spring/early summer. I'll still be the one puking on the side of the trail looking for more O2. Please don't chuckle too loudly when you go by.

It's bizarre... Like some sort of Discovery Channel documentary.

"Here we see the male red-assed baboons jockeying for dominance. Note the ritualized
posturing and threats. Male A displays his fangs in response to Male B's chest thumping
display, yet turns tail and retreats to an observation post behind a tree when Male B
appears inclined to take up the challenge. Male C, a longstanding alpha male, reappears on
the scene, and Male B attempts to placate him by first attempting a penis-yank greeting - a
hazardous form of social interaction, usually exchanged only between social equals - then
hastily assuming a submissive posture when Male C reactives negatively. Male A continues to
hoot, bounce and threat-yawn from the safety of his tree. Meanwhile, the other members of
the troop, unimpressed by the ongoing display, have wandered off in search of more fruitful
    foraging grounds."

    And Ted? LOL.
