Hamilton and Vettel both out. Seems the teams are being very conservative, they only have 5 engines for the season, no point blowing one on the first race.

You mean PhD, right? Last I heard PHD was an acronym for Push Here Dummy, which is quite apt given your need for regular wheelchair assistance and the like. -
It's a bit bullshitty how the F1 puts so much emphasis on the nationality of the drivers, coz (obviously) the teams are pro organisations that don't represent countries, and the drivers on each team are usually from different nations.
It's a passing interest, and that's about it.Rant! Ha

True, but I have to say Daniel Ricciardo did a pretty good job this weekend first with qualifying and then to hold his position for the whole race.

Not so fast taggsimajagsi..... http://www.theage.com.au/sport/motorsport/daniel-ricciardo-podium-finish-in-doubt-over-excessive-fuel-consumption-20140316-hvjfp.html -
WTF?
Exceeding maximum fuel flows? These F1 regs get sillier by the year.
-
They can measure the flow per hour out the car urethra.... yet we can't find a farkin jumbo jet........
-
That's because the jumbo jet doesn't want to be found.
Although the whole thing is decidedly odd, don't you think?

He comes across as a likable guy who always has a smile, and seems genuinely stoked to be doing what he's doing. -

I don't think his team wants Ricciardo's fuel flows to be found. :pJust think how much fun could be had if the only rules in F1 were focused on safety and it was basically a technical free for all. Specify the max dimensions of the car and have at it. Ah the days of 1.6 liter turbos pumping out 1,600hp in qualifying trim and full underbody aero packages - and combine that with 20,000+ rpm engines, gearboxes that change gears near instantaneously and materials that were unobtanium back when F1 rules were what they should be. Just imagine the amount of downforce and power they could get with current knowledge...
Comes to something when cars in local SCCA races in the modified classes put out more power than the F1 cars.

We can only dream of what might have been. -

Yeah. Would be ace. But then, governing bodies seem to be engineered to stifle innovation. Same in cycling. TT positions, brakes etc.

So Ricciardo used a performance enhancer to gain an advantage over their competition? [censored]. That'd be 2-3 years out of cycling.
No doubt he drove over the border the day before to get a high-flow fuel pump. Just him. Nobody else. Was the only time he did it too. Can't wait to read all about it in his tell all biography 'Battle Cars'.

Ha thats awesome [IMG]files.cyclingforums.comevil.pngOpen ↗[/IMG] I'm sure he only did it once and then binned it. -
Technically the DQ is correct, but it is the most retarded technical rule I have ever seen. Just restrict the amount of fuel the teams can use. People don't want to see DQ's over technical [censored] they don't understand. They are [censored] turning racing into a glorified economy run mutter mutter retarded mutter mutter stupid gheybos mutter

100 kg/h - pussies! In my ski racing days the boats used to get 1 mile per gallon and could do a good 100+ miles in an hour.
