Only 12 miles today. I wasted a perfectly perfect afternoon with one of life's responsibilities...visiting a relative that was hospitalized yesterday afternoon.
They put him in a hyperbaric chamber over night. I asked if I could borrow it for tonight...
His PCO2 was way way high. Left him dazed & confused...and finally completely out like a light.
I keep thinking I'm going semi-fast. Then I see the data. I feel the need...for speed. But, it's not there. Yet.
Gotta do more climbing. More jumps. More sprints. More intervals. Position on the bike is good. Comfort zone is good. I'm bringing it and swinging it, but can't get the afterburners to light off. I HAD to hurry this ride along, short as it was, to get to the hospital in a town about an hour away (God help me if I have a heart attack or stroke out. By the time Life Flight lands I'll be cold.). I'm jamming gears like a junior in search of 124 inches, trying to find the gear that feels right for the wind or grade or whatever. Nothing is gelling so far yet all of it feels so good.
On the plus side, today was the first day in short sleeves. Yay me!
On the negative side, today was the first day for the County [censored] to throw loose shovels of cold patch in the pot holes. Fun to spray all over the bike and have stick to the tires.
