Right. You can make a dolphin smoke, but then, that's a
fairly retarded dolphin.

So sad. This guy must be butt ugly; Mom has to tie a pork
chop around is neck just so the dog will play with him.

You could do it, but I don't think it would add to the
flavor. My favorite way - other than grilled over wood coals
- is the old fashioned restaurant way of topping it with
pineapple and shredded coconut and broiled. Yum!

Sad indeed. When I saw the subject line, I thought this
would end up being a thread about how there's a fish called
"dolphin" (not a mammal) which is "dolphin" in South Florida
and "mahi mahi" in other parts of the country and probably
goes by other names in other places. I love that fish to
eat, and I love the off-topic language threads so I had good
reason to believe I'd like this thread. Oh, the
disappointment!

Huh? Dolphin is a type of fish. It's NOT the same as the
cute, intelligent Bottlenose type that you find at Sea
World and such.

I'm at the top of the heap of bad spellers, but I don't
write buy when I mean by. Stop, think, spell.
My worst and I will continue to do it because I'm an
idiot... is writing bear when I should write bare in this
phrase: "bare" with me. I've been corrected more than once,
but I still don't agree.
Bare is NAKED. Bear is a big, burly animal with huge claws.
I want you to stick with me like a bear (get your claws into
the subject), not bare - naked (eeeew, get away from me - I
don't know you that well).
That's my reasoning and I'm stickin' to it. What you learned
in Jr. Hi. doesn't apply to my context.

Okay, here's my contribution to THAT conversation: I like
the name "dorado" for that fish. (The name means "golden"
and is given because of the fish's golden belly and sides.)
You see that appellation on menus occasionally. Most
recently, I saw it on the menu of some fancy Latin American
restaurant in New York.
And here's an ON-TOPIC language play on words for you: "The
chef claimed to have roasted a goose, but that turned out to
be a canard."

Interesting... so there's more than one fish known as
'dolphin'. I had mahi-mahi in the US and it was beautiful -
I've never seen this Australian version (but then I'm in the
south-east corner where it doesn't live...) I wonder why
they gave these disparate fishes the same name?

Ahh, yes - another satisfied customer.
I don't slink back from anything or anyone. You're just
having a hissy fit because I've laid into you in a couple
(non-Jew) posts recently, and *you* slinked away.
Good luck with that killfile do-hickey.
