Even if Armstrong isn't anymore the climber he used to be, he still doesnt have to worry. There are hardly any mountains in the Tour. Nothing above the 2000m. Even Cipollini can win ...
No one mentions peaking? How fast do you want to be 6 weeks out from the most cirtical days of racing? Lance should still be training hard and testing his day-to-day recovery.

As is Tyler who was > 1 min. faster.
Different guys will work on different aspects of their fitness leading up to a peak. They're not comparable to any great degree until everybody is together at the most important days of the most important race.

But so is everyone else.... I thought it was good strategy that LA didn't show his hand in the Dauphine Libere. It was noted in the L-Chronicles yesterday, that last year by winning the DL, it took too much out of him. This year LA wanted to get a good prep in and to see what the otheres have. So we know now Mayo has a pair of aces and Hamilton a pair of Kings. I think Ham should have held back a bit in the DL, as well as his team, their strong showing makes them a heavy contender in the Tour, Team Phonak looks pretty strong. -tom
