In golf you can be fat and smoke and drink whisky While you play and
still be a pro champion.
A sport is a physical activity that is played competitively. Some sports
are also games, and some are not. (Basketball and football are games. So
the distinction between games and sports doesn't do much for me.)
Babe Ruth was fat, smoked and drank, and was a hellofa champion. So I guess
baseball is not a sport? For a more recent example of a tub of lard, look
at David Wells.

Gold is like bowling, shooting, or archery. It is a skill requiring
zero aerobic endurance.
Aerobic endurance is only one thing that might be involved in a sport. They
also typically require strength, stamina, coolness under pressure,
coordination, flexibility, etc... I've seen lots of [censored] articles claiming
that cycling is not a real sport because it doesn't emphasize some of these
other factors. It's just as much [censored] to say that golf is not a sport
because it doesn't require a huge aerobic engine.
Frankly, I will take the cowards way out of the debate. When I want to find
out the results of a golf tournament, I go to ESPN. That's basically enough
to make it a sport for me. When I need to find out info about chess or
bridge tournaments, I have to go elsewhere.
