However you like, if you can cycle the same speed then do it that way, but

The thought of someone driving behind me at 30mph (or any speed, for that
matter), staring at their speedometer and presumably thinking, 'this'll show

And if you'd been following me on the descent off Holme Moss today you'd
have been able to pace me at an unbelieveably scary 45mph and on the descent
off Woodhead Pass at a more sedate 41mphVernon

can just about hit 30mph on the flat with no wind, but I can't hold it;

to this group) who can average 29mph for ten miles, and probably a good
bit more. Which means for considerable distances he's exceeding 30mph.That clearly isn't impossible. What is impossible is maintaining 30mph
for long periods. The current UCI world record for the hour is Ondřej
Sosenka's record set in July last year. The speed? 49.7 Km/h =
30.8821483 mph. That's the world record, than which an unassisted man on
an upright bike cannot do better. Indoors in velodrome, under perfect

money in it. But it's worth pointing out that most car speedometers

Followed a road bike some way round Richmond Park, going too fast for
me to pass and stay within the 30 limit. I was in the car. I think I
passed on an uphill stretch eventually.I usually hit 30 or a little more joining the A40 (downhill slip road)
