  1. I knew something wasn't right. I mean apart from the extra 6 kilos, the
25°C temps, up to 90% rel humidity and the fact you could barely see the
Eiffel tower. I never thought to look at the air quality

For those of you who are "mauvais" at French, "mauvais" means "bad". I
can't ever remeber seeing anything worse than "bon" (good) for La Rochelle
marathons, nor even in my home area. Bad is like pwaaaaa cough cough
    splutter barf.

Just pray for all the poor [censored] and bastardesses who were getting
lungfulls of this [censored] for 5, 6, 6.5 hours :-(

Looks like Marko punted too. I haven't been able to find him in the
    results. Even in the half.

  3. Steve blames the pins when he bowls like [censored] too.

Ah but there wasn't a half that day, soooooo....

Yeah, I know, it was back in March -- but he's not in those results.
I thought he'd mentioned he might run the half instead of the full.
He was registered as no. 815 for the full, so it looks like he punted
    on both races.

ahhh ok. sorry :-( he did say he was in [censored] form due to injury or summat,
    IIRC?

"Sometimes, to the lesser talented, scurrilous is often mistaken as
'gnarly.'" -- that same guy who paraphrased Nietzche.

    Hi everyone!
Indeed I've registered for both half and full, but ran neither :
I just can't find the time and concentration necessary to run at a
decent pace (my weekly average was about 12kmpw so...)
But I hope to get back to it this summer with many \o/ runs ;-)

Anyway congrats to you Steve for you good performance considering all
the [censored] that you've mentioned (to me the temp would have been the worst
of all) and good to you Mark that you didn't fly across the ocean to
    breathe foul air ;-p

Thank you kind Sir. Indeed the heat was what I hated most, that and the
fact we had to give up the hotel room early so I didn't get a shower til
after flying home to Toulouse, yuck!

Thanks for asking and Hi to everyone!

I kept reading you guys, but with my really short mileage, I didn't dare
joining the training week thread :-p

but since you've asked... I finally got back to running at the end of
this summer, with 10kg overweight (about 22lbs) that was quite hard, but
I'm back to about 50kmpw (30mpw) and this feels really good (although
    I'm still 5kg overweight)!
(BTW good luck to you steve, it is really a challenge to run slow
feeling so heavy when one was used to running fast...)

Right now, I don't think I'll be able to run competitively a marathon
this spring, but I might try a HM instead. The first goal being to get
    back in real good shape.
FWIW my pace @ 130bpm went from 6'04"/km in august to 5'13"/km right
now. I used to run 4'55"/km @ 130 when in marathon shape... so I've got
    still some training there!

And while I'm at it, congrats to Lance with his good race! (although
like Dan I was expecting a sub3 based on the high mileage he ran, but
that might as well have been too much too close to the race?)

I'm looking forward to it (sort of)... Oh God let me die gracefully !

I figured he wouldn't do sub-3 this time, cos it wasn't his goal...
But I'm very happy that he did a proper marathon for once, compared to
    what he did before.

Now he must surely know what he did right and he only needs a tiny change
    to go sub-3:
    - slightly lower BMI :-P
    - lighter shoes but not too light. Maybe Asics 2x00 or DS Trainers would
    give the edge.
