It's also a hell of a way to keep Paris in the plaster business...

I did my ribs once when my disc brake pads had become contaminated. Was
doing a nice downhill section and had no brakes!! I bailed and landed ribs
first on a nice stump.

Then about a year later my front tire kicked out going over a wet wooden
foot bridge and successfully broke my collar bone.
Both rank rather high in the pain department.

Hehe, I never said it didn't hurt!

Isn't it something like "plaster of patriot" now? ;)

Cracked ribs a few times. Best biff though broke all the ribs on my left
side in 2 places on each rib, and smashed my left collar bone into 5 or 6
indistinguishable pieces. Slept in a recliner for 6 mos.

I broke my elbow (cracked humerus) test riding a mountain bike in a
parking lot, does that count?

One of the guys I ride with did about the same thing. He broke a bunch
of ribs, in a parking-lot crash. Not as bad as Cbro, maybe just 3
broken? That had to hurt. Another riding bud suffered an even worse
injury on the trail -- on the easiest portion you could imagine. I've
been lucky so far. My crashes in easy spots have just been
embarrassing, not painful.

This oughta give you a laugh. Or at least a pause to say, hmmm. It was the
end of a long day, and we were finally coming down off the mtn, and hooked
up to Corral's from higher up, came down the reverse way, and took the
singletrack (called "advanced singletrack" for some reason) off to the right
near the end, and I took the lead. Somehow crashed on my left side at
28mph, bounced off the trail to my right, and came to with a dog licking my
face. End of a good season in 2004. Lots of firsts that year. First trip
to Moab, first Barking Spider race, first biff to rack me up so bad I should
have remained unconcious... for 6 mos.
