If your having trouble with your Cateye I highly recommend calling the number in the manual for customer service. I did and found little wait time and a customer service rep that was awesome in teaching me about the unit.

If your just resetting your trip time/mileage you simply hold the mode button that you are in, (ie mode1 button or mode2) and press the center main "start/stop/enter" button and release both. It's very simple, very quick.

You have to press Button 1 and the middle buttom below at the same time quickly Don't hold it and it resets everything quickly. I had to figure this out the 1st time too. =)

Just got mine last week. Setup was a bit weird - the user's manual has that sort of deliberately obtuse nature that one normally finds in a 30 year old COBOL program, or any one of a number of government forms, but eventually I got through it.

Thank you so much for posting this. Google found it immediately; I was getting pretty frustrated with resetting the thing until I saw this.

There's a bit of a trick to it. Computers normally respond to the push of a button, these respond to the relasing of the buttons.

What you have to do is make sure the display is not on the lap screen. Simultaneously hold down the left, right and front buttons. Release the lot at the same time. The trick is releasing them all together.
