Well, now, to answer the question: I think you could do no better than a Habanero.

Seriously, I'd be inclined to agree. Having the builder read r.b.tech is a far more concrete
advantage that a couple of grams here and there.

    Get a Moots!

I was at the LBS the other day and a customer was looking at two Moots ( Mootseses? ) a Vamoots
for him and a Phsclo-X YBB for her. Both bikes were custom made with Campy Record 10s and hand
    built rims.

Customer was going to take them to her villa in the south of Italy, and the lbs owner started to
explain that the shop would box and protect them for airline shipment at no charge.

³Thats all right. They are going on the private jet.²

Talk about money being no object! Must be nice.

Do you or Mark honestly think that the quality of the Habanero is as good as a Seven Axiom?

Umm, it's very hard to reply logically when you top post.

Yes, in fact, I do think that the quality of a Habanero is as good as that of a Seven, or a Merlin,
or a Lightspeed for that matter. Habaneros are built by aerospace-trained welders who know how to do
titanium, and with Ti that's a big deal. It's easy to corrupt a weld with Ti through improper
procedure. You can have Habanero's standard geometry or you can go custom.

What you don't get with Habanero is marketing BS like "proprietary tapered S-bend stays that
maximize lateral rigidity while increasing vertical compliance for that magic sikly smooth
titanium ride." It's [censored], pure and simple. The geometry of the rear triangle prevents it from
having perceptible vertical compliance. Mark understands these issues, and he doesn't yank your
    chain with this BS.

As far as I am concerned, you'll not find a better Ti bike on the market even though you can pay
    lots and lots more.

Well, now, to answer the question: I think you could do no better than a Habanero. It ain't
expensive, but you did say "price is no object- high or low." I'll bet that Mark would sell you
one for $2000 if that makes you feel better about it.

I would prefer you'd use the newer front page of home.earthlink.netWelcome.htm

I admit, there's still those same old broken links which I have fixed but never uploaded, and I
revamped the bicycle wheel of meditation section and never uploaded that, either. Mark Buell was
going to help with all of this, and then I think he got a job or something and ended up with
better things to do with his time.

Ah, Claire, dear Claire, I had no idea you felt that way. It was rather that the time I have in each
day is limited, and I am forced to prioritize. Over the last year, while I've been on this ugly
medication routine (a type of chemo) I haven't even been able to take care of ordinary family
necessities, like keeping up w/ my checkbook! I'm just lucky I can keep paying the bills!

But the meds go one more week. Hopefully some sort of normalcy will resume soon.

And still lithe, limber, svelte. Still enjoying occasional breakfasts of 2 well salt-&-peppered,
shingled over-easies and 2 rashers of bacon. Still pole-vaulting out of bed every morning. Still
encumbered with a full head of hair that grows back faster than it falls out. I attribute my
preserved youth to my still riding bicycles. And a little bit of denial, and trying to forget there
was a time many years ago when I thought Gail Storm was hot.

    Dear Eric,

You're absolutely right. If, for example, someone was foolishly boasting about his advanced years in
hopes of more birthday presents, he would include the exact date and his address.

A butted ti tube is probably a tiny bit better.

In any meaningful way, other than saving a few- very few in the case of titanium tubes- grams?
Butting in steel tubes saves appreciable weight, but in Ti and Al tubes it's of less significance
    for weight savings.
