  1. Dear God:

Please stop this heat wave. It is too hot to enjoy the weather or even bear
the weather. Some of us have to work in it. It is hard on the homeless and
dangerous for the elderly. The poor animals are suffering in it as well.

Have mercy on us and stop it NOW.

    Amen.

  5. Stacy:
I asked God a similar question 25 years ago in a sweltering humid heat
wave in Toronto and he gave me an Idea:
    Move.
    So I did.
Here in Victoria B.C. we're are having our "heat wave" today.
The temp has hit 80 degrees Farenheit, the hottest so far this summer.
But the bright side is that it is low humidity and we have no
    mosquitos.
I gotta go now to bask in the sun🙂
    Keep cool.

    COMMENT:
What, if you don't reply, God won't know you joined, or wanted to join?

I'm a little fuzzy on the idea of prayer anyway, nevermind this
newfangled electronic kind you seem to be whipping up. If God doesn't
already know what you want, even before you say it (or type it), then
what kind of God is he/she/it? If you're not getting it already, there
must be a good reason, otherwise what kind of a God is he/she/it?
What, you think God doesn't watch CNN weather reports and is therefore
unaware of the heat wave? Perhaps we should have a money drive to buy
God a good cable connection, so God can find out what's wrong with the
world. The prayer thing seems so inefficient.

I'm willing to act as intermediate for the donation. I expect that
when enough donation funds accumulate to buy God cable, the money will
just vanish from my account [censored], pretty much as though the IRS took
it. Except it will be God Almighty, a lesser power. And besides, I
have no doubt the IRS gets cable already.

  7. The method is simple:
By replying, you agree with the request. simple as that. The combined
request go out into the universe and carry the energy to do the work.

As far as the rest of your comments, if you have no belief in a Supreme
Being, whatever its shape, form or the religion surrounding it, then
disregard this post and find your own path one day.

Perhaps more desires would be met if we only asked....

So now there's prayer energy? This is yet another form of energy unknown to
science. Does this energy radiate like light, diminishing on the inverse
square? Or is it focused like a laser beam directly to God? The laser may be
necessary, because if there is a God of the universe, it's going to take
something pretty startling to draw his attention to this tiny rock orbiting
an insignificant star in a smallish galaxy among billions.

Ah yes, the squeaky wheel theory. Squeak away. Even if there is a God who
watches attentively over the people of this planet, there are millions here
sharing deeper misery than your underarm sweat stains. Buy a fan, and leave
your God to assisting the starving and war torn.

My belief is that Stacy is Nuts.

It is called summer, Stacy. It is about time that you got used to the
concept that in the Summer, it is sometimes hot. What is your problem?
Are you mental, or just a female? Ha, ... Hah, Ha!

You are an idiot, Stacy. And, I find your THREAD extremely offensive.

Please STOP making religion a mockery.

Just my opinion, but I am right as usual. 🙂

When God set up "Mother's Nature", did He assign any rules for
    Mother's Nature to follow?
Like having no ice ages and no hot ages; and no wet ages and no
    dry ages?

btw, what benefits to the Earth does a heat wave bring?

    COMMENT:

Stacy's not making religion a mockery. That's already been done quite
effectively by the many people who would not find her request in the
least odd. The God which most religions believe in, and most people
who think of themselves as "religious" believe in, would be better
characterized as "Santa Claus For Adults". You can tell them "Oh, grow
up!" all you like, but it won't help.

    COMMENT:

Sounds like The Force. Has a dark side, and a light side, like duck
tape, and it binds the universe together. And great disburbances are
caused in it by the ORKIN man. Which you can sense if you have long
    enough antennae.

One day YOU will understand, Stacy, that the universe you live in, is
not at all like the nice home you grew up in with mum and dad, and
where WHINING and COMPLAINING is the key to getting whatever you want.
Nature does not work that way. Instead, we live in a machine of
physical laws, which don't respond to email petitions. You get your
heat waves, you get your tsunamis, and occasionally you get your killer
asteroids. That is the way the game is dealt. Throwing a tantrum to the
Invisible Dealer isn't going to change a thing.

Though personally, I wouldn't mind if the heat wave should remove
itself to Canada for a month. If the universe responded to smugness
with any kind of sense of irony, that WOULD happen. Of course, that's
not the kind of universe we live in, either. Pity.

who kills the children. Not Fate that butchers them or Destiny that feeds them
to dogs. It's us. Only us." - Rorschach, Watchmen

  20. Dear SBH:

Who threw a tantrum or whined? It's called a "prayer". OR Some call it
affirmation. Some call it chanting. Some call it a petition. But if you
don't believe in any higher power then I understand your desire to
criticise. I am not going to get into a war of words with you over it. There
have been enough wars since the beginning of time over spiritual beliefs.

I pray, ask, affirm, petition etc., for lots of things all the time. Prayer
doesn't require it to be this thing or that thing. There aren't any rules
about the size of the request or nature of the request except that it be
something to help and not hurt. Of course I suppose black majic or evil
voodoo would not apply that rule.

But it's a way of life with some people. Not whining, not a tantrum. And
this is a health related newsgroup and the heat wave was adversley affecting
the health of a lot of creatures including me. Ok?

Why did you pick Canada to move the heat wave to? Who's the object of that
    request if I may ask?
