The Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team has granted a request from cyclist Ivan Basso to be released from the team. Last week, Basso was suspended from competition by his Discovery Channel team because of a reopened Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) investigation into the rider's involvement with the Operation Puerto blood doping ring.
