Are you capable of skidding the rear wheel on a dry surface with the
fixie? If so, I think you'd win in court. But you would have to go
to court, because I doubt the argument would win over the copper.

whats skidding the rear wheel got to do with it?

258. Equipment on a bicycle
A person must not ride a bicycle that does not have-
(a) at least 1 effective brake; and
(b) a bell, horn, or similar warning device, in working order.
Penalty: 1 penalty unit.

from memory some people have said that if you only have one brake its has to
be on the back wheel.(stupid yes, but does anyone have it in writting?)

I saw three cyclists stopped talking to cycle cops on swanston st, one
of which was definitely getting a ticket (I was on a tram)

I assume they were getting people for red lights.

Hmmm, someone's gone and changed the road rules on me, and removed all
references to rear wheel skidding on dry level pavement, off google.
The *******.
