RESURFACING UPDATE

Would you believe it? The resurfacing is almost done!

Check out www.northbrookvelodrome.com for all the latest photos, but
take it from us, the folks at Gallagher have done a fantastic job!
They've gone above and beyond to make sure that the new track is smooth,
level, and ready for some fast racing next season. The track and apron
were completed a week ago, and all that remains is the top shelf and the
topcoat.

What does this mean? THE TRACK IS STILL CLOSED. Although the main
surface has been laid, it needs to cure for a time before the final
top-coat is put down. That won't happen until next month, so please be
patient! Striping won't happen until next year, so we're hoping we may
still be able to get out there once this season for a non-competitive
ride night. Watch this space for more news if everything is able to come
together.

DISTRICT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

Thanks to the Kenosha Velodrome Association and Carl Wilkins, USCF
official and proprietor of Wisconsin Bicycle Racing, there will be
Illinois District Track Championships this season! The weekend of August
6-8 (Friday through Sunday) will see a full slate of events run
concurrently with the Wisconsin State Championships at the Kenosha
Velodrome ... prizes will be broken out by state, for a huge group of
categories and events.

Even better, the Roger DeLanghe Race will this year serve as the
Wisconsin/Illinois Points Race Championship. This is a great chance to
get out and compete for top honors, even as our own racing home nears
completion!

For more information, contact Carl at [email protected] or 262.654.6773.
Fliers for the racing are available electronically in MS Excel, or are
being circulated at area races.

MORE CYCLOCROSS MADNESS!

Mark your calendars ... Sunday, September 26 sees the return of
cyclocross racing to benefit the Velodrome at the Anets property on
Techny Road in Northbrook. This year, with the Velodrome saved, a
portion of the proceeds will go toward the future: building an account
that will help the Velodrome save for renovations down the road. A
portion will also go to another great cause, the Northbrook Citizens for
Drug & Alcohol Awareness.

This is event number 1 in the Chicago SuperCross Cyclocross Series,
produced by Red Lantern Events. A number of local groups have stepped up
with sponsorship, helping to make this event a huge success!

We'll have more information as we get closer; in the meantime, check out
www.dafinc.com/bike later this week for a flier and race times.
