  1. I've lost 70 lbs with Weight Watchers and have learned how to eat better...
but now I'd like to take it up a notch and "clean up" my eating...

I work out 1:30 to 2 hours per day (with the hope of building it up to 2-3
hours a day) 6 days per week (saturday is my sacred day off to put on a
clean jammies and slippers and relax from sun-up to sun-down) and I think
that my nutrition needs go beyon Weight Watchers.

I want to adapt my eating to the amount of working out I do and make sure I
have everything I need in vitamins and proteines etc etc..

Anybody knows of good sources of infos? I already have a good base about
nutrition, through WW and through personal researches. Website? books? I'm
not looking for any fad diets or South beach or Atkin or any of that.. just
    food ideas, infos, recipes even..

If I want to really eat clean.. where do I look?

    Any ideas?

  2. So what's your diet at the moment? Do you know your carbs, protein, fats,
fibre, calories? Do you have more weight to lose? Blood tests can check if
you are deficient in any elements, minerals. If you get your carbs from
vegetables and fruit rather than bread, pasta, rice etc that would be a good
    start.

    See, I told you...

  5. See that's where I have a problem, I don't want to count everything, simply
because I have a life and don't want to waste it counting every nutrient
    that enters my mouth.

Instead I want to keep a grip on 1- portion control (which I've got a grip
on already but need to keep a grip on) and 2- healthy foods (which I mostly
know what they are but need to be more strict about)

So basically I'm searching for foods to enjoy, and foods to avoid. Not how
many mgs of proteines I need to get in and how many mg of carbs etc etc.

I am loosing the 10 lbs that I've put on in the last year by following the
WW program and just want to clean up my food choices without eating lettuce
and grilled chicken every meal of the week.

Guess I'm more looking for food ideas than nutrition infos..

The outside edges of your local supermarket.

I just got back from shopping. I bought fruit, vegetables, meat &
dairy. We eat grilled or broiled meat, steamed vegetables, boiled
previously-frozen vegetables, brown basmati rice and sometimes potatoes
    or winter squash.

The vegetables vary, but I usually will steam up a big basket of brussel
sprouts, cauliflower & broccoli together (and eat the leftovers the next
    day.)

The meats vary, but I'll often spice it with Season All or marinate it
in a ziplock bag with some sort of pre-mixed marinade like Chipolte
Pepper or Sesame Ginger. We'll eat fish, pork loin, chicken breast, ham
or beef steak and occasionally omelots. (I've got half a lamb in the
freezer but it's too fatty to recommend for weight loss.)

For a snack we'll have nuts, or a Balance Bar or a piece of fruit &
peanut butter. Today I made smoothies with banana, frozen blueberries,
skim milk & Trader Joe's Chocolate Whey Protein powder (& some crushed ice.)

For breakfast I'll have oatmeal & peanutbutter & protein powder cooked
in the microwave OR lox on one half of a 100% whole wheat bagel.

For lunch I might have skim-milk cottage cheese with fresh fruit, or a
hardboiled egg & some cheese & crackers, or a can of turkey vegetable soup.

In the summer I usually have a chunk-o-meat on a salad, but I prefer
    steamed veggies in the winter.

You might also want to try posting more over at alt.support.diet. I
suspect you'll fit in better over there. Right now you seem to just be
hanging with the trolls over here.

well i dont think that ww is good well it keeps track on calories
but not on others things like vitamins and antioxidants i mean i can
diet on 30 grams of butter each day, but a healthy diet is
complicated for example they learn us to avoid chocolate but
pure cacao is a very good antioxidant and also have a bloodvessel
dilating effect, good for the heart

  9. Trolls aren't too bad.. generally.. most of them anyway... I kow I'm going
against the sacred "Do not feed the trolls" but.. they are the biggest
mouths out here and I hate talking to myself.. ;op

One thing that bugs me, going back to nutrition, is that I'm allergic to
nuts (not all of them but some) so it makes it hard to get proteins in for
snacks.. can't really grill me a chicken breast for an afternoon snack..
    does that make sense?

At WW the attention is generally focused on veggies a lot and less on
proteins (though it's slowly changing). I'm not an Atkin fan, but I do
believe that I need a little more proteins if only to cut the munchies..

Cooking and planning and stuff isn't much of an issue as I work cut shifts
(for WW) and have lots of free time in my day. Work in slots of 3 hours,
then 3 off, then 3 at work again.. I get home late but have lots of work out
time and shopping time (I got to work out more so I shop less, I'm broke
heheh) and cooking time during the day.

I wonder why it is that it is so important to try to influence others on who
should or shouldn't be responded to. Isn't there a first amendment right in
your country to free speech without coercion, threats or even veiled
threats? If you don't wish to converse with someone in your pub then
certainly that is your right. But to run around the pub warning others that
they should not interact with that table or this table seems so petty and
unbecoming to an intelligent person. How does it impact on your life if
Willow chooses to respond to X or Y?
