Had a bit of a tumble off the bike last week and fractured my right
wrist/forearm. There's maybe just a trace of irony in this because I was
moving from the big, bad road to a cycle-path at the time.

Anyway, I'm guessing that there've been a few repaired bones amongst the
denizens of URC, so, here's the question... any experiences of taking
vitamins, calcium/magnesium supplements, glucosamine sulphate, etc. to
hasten the repair?... or do you just let nature take its course?

I've heard caffeine and alcohol should be avoided while a fracture heals.
Don't like the idea of going cold turkey on my cuppa or my favourite
isotonic recovery drink but I think I can make the sacrifice for a few weeks
if I really have to. Maybe.

Any other handy hints for things to add to and remove from the diet?

cheers

I broke my finger a couple of years ago (not a good move for a musician!), I was leading a horse and he bolted, I didn't let go quickly enough. A friend's son who was studying sports science suggested that it had broken because I am vegetarian (what rubbish). Absolutely nothing to do with being attached to 1/2 ton of horse travelling at 30mph!!

Sorry I know that doesn't answer your question I just thought I'd share.

I don't recall taking any extra supplements, I had an operation to pin it back together and physio. The offending finger is now more independant and supple than it's corresponding mate.

A poultice of comfrey would traditionally be used to help repair tissue. Magnseium helps to keep calcium in the bones.
