Has anyone seen or have any experinece of a rear touring pannier for a
Brompton? I have the front bag but am thinking of taking a train
journey and cycling back home and would look to take a weekend to do
it. As such I would need to be able to pack overnight gear on the rear
rack.

Any help would be apreciated.

There are a few specialist bags for the rack. One can also attach a
suitable "ordinary" bag. One can also arrange a relatively small
rucksack between rack and seat.

There's a problem with putting much stuff on the rack - you catch it
with your heels. So I wouldn't recommend anything wider that the rack
itself.

Radical make a bag specifically for the Brom rear rack, see:

http://www.radicaldesign.nl/en/products/brompton/brompton.html

It doesn't seem to be immediately available in the UK, but might be
worth some cross-channel postage if you want something for the job.
Brompton endorse it to the extent there are pictures featuring it in
their brochure.

Thanks Guys, I'll take a look to see if the Cycle Doctor or Evanns has
something similar before spending my cash on import duties.

Last time I checked we were in the EU and so was NL, so there are no
import duties to worry about.

No import duty from the Netherlands just postage.

I was considering a seat post mounted rack (suitable to fit the large
diameter seatpost)with facility to fit small conventional panniers.

It might not foul your pedalling.

Has anyone tried this?

The rack and saddle can be turned backwards for folding.

Just an idea!

Cheers,

Nick

If the load is not forward of the little pips under the rack then
the width of the load is not too much of a problem.

You learn something new every day eh? I thought we still had to pay
duty on goods imported into the country similar to the amount charged
for VAT.

If it's within the EU then there's nothing extra to pay, it's all within
the single market. You pay the VAT in the country you buy it (in this
case NL).
