This is a new post just because its slightly off topic from the other speed camera post.
Basically, the people who seem to do the whinging about speed cameras are people like Jeremy Clarkson and his other boy racer counterparts. I read in Autocar once how 'we (we being autocar readers - not usually me incidently) cant enjoy our cars with all these speed cameras...' clearly thinking not being allowed to drive as fast as one likes is some unjustified punishment. Well if it wasn't for people treating the roads with so little respect then there would be no need for speed cameras. Slight speeding would not have created the need for speed cameras whereas its the complete disregard of speed limits that these whingers show that have created the need for the cameras.
So when I see people getting upset about speed cameras then I just think good, they deserve it.

Well I think it's pretty tragic to have to "enjoy a car" by driving it fast. [censored] tragic. And anyone who buys one of those cars with a wing on needs euthanizing for the good of the gene pool.

It's quite good telling them it can't be designed properly if it has to have a wing to keep it on the road.
It was quite a giggle arriving at work on my bike at the same time as some guy who'd just bought the latest mutt's nuts shiny motorbike and expecting some respect, just to have his illusions shattered when I told him it must be [censored] cos it's got no pedals.

As a cyclist and a car driver, I was driving through the countryside in my car early in the morning. Approaching a bend, another motorist pulled out in front of me from his/her driveway causing me to slowdown. To their credit, realising their error, accelerated off at speed which is the correct thing to do in this situation, so as to cause as little inconvenience to me. However, the this driver went off at breakneck speed, 60mph+ which was unforgiving. When approaching the village where I live, the breakneck speed continued. Me thinking, he/she had an important appointment in the nearby town (I'll forgive him/her), called in at the local shop. These inconsiderate [censored] need catching.

And the link with cycling is?.........
Hey Vernon, --- if you can't see a connection to Cycling then ................. oh no shut up Trevor, ---- car driver behaviour has no effect on cyclists at all ( he said with 3 recently repaired ribs c/o a blind driver!) You're really funny btw. I mean, it would appear that some folk can't even go for a cycle without turning into some sort of race / timed event.

The conection isn't just with cyclists, it's with all other road users

Oops sorry how about this then
Basically, the people who seem to do the whinging about speed cameras are people like Jeremy Clarkson (he doesn't like cyclists) and his other boy racer counterparts (they dont care for cyclists much either). I read in Autocar (not Manualbike) once how 'we (we being autocar readers - not usually me incidently) cant enjoy our cars with all these speed cameras...' clearly thinking not being allowed to drive as fast as one likes is some unjustified punishment (ofcourse cyclists dont have such speed limits because they are rsponsible). Well if it wasn't for people treating the roads with so little respect then there would be no need for speed cameras (so motorists could be like cyclists). Slight speeding would not have created the need for speed cameras whereas its the complete disregard of speed limits that these whingers show that have created the need for the cameras.

Well, as a ped, driver and motor vehicle passenger I'll keep quiet about motorists behaviour on a cycling newsgroup then. OTOH as a road using cyclist do I have your permission to engage in discussions about road safety issues on a cycling newsgroup?

Every car I've ever driven has wings, usually two at the front and two at the back, they are there to try to stop water being thrown everywhere when it rains.

My only grip about speed cameras is that they are very rarely accurate, so, many people who are accused of exceeeding the speed limit are, in fact, not!

I still agree. So _now_ take it to uk.tosspot.

I did and wasted all day arguing with people who think speeding is perfectly safe as long as you are insured and not a joy rider.
I wish I hadn't.
PS. uk.tosspot didn't exist so I went on the Paul Smith safespeed forum.
