Speaking of saddles - i got the saddles classic, and they are fantastic. Rode one to work today, and it made the bike much more laterally stiff, and yet vertically compliant. Plus, the white looks very bling on my new bike.

Glad you like them. I've still got one on my MTB and I put one on the Surly, but I've put flites on everything else.

BTW everyone, if you ever have the thought 'geez, I think it would be a great idea to go camping down at Seaspray', kick yourself in the nuts. Farking Como it ain't.

No real beach to speak of (the high tide mark goes right up to the dunes), half the dunes are washed away at the moment, it was hella windy, nothing to do, one general store that closes at 6.45pm, no pub, it was cold and the wind, surf pounding, my narrow useless sleeping bag and my farked back conspired to give me no sleep. At least I had fun hanging with the little bloke and it was that windy it kept the sandflies and mozzies away.😄 The dunes and beach are in that bad a way I reckon one big storm will send the surf lifesaving club tumbling into Bass Strait.

We checked out Golden Beach as well, which is better. It has a slightly better beach and three shops, so we are only measuring by degrees here.:p We also checked out whats left of a 120yo shipwreck on the 90 mile beach. The answer is 'not much'!

Seriously, Como is great and the Lake Como area is beautiful. If you do have a chance to get up to Bellagio and Madonna di Ghisallo do it. And I did not have one crook feed in Italy.

No idea about bike shops in Vegas.

Where are you staying?

Stay away from the old Main St which is a bit sleazy these days.

The main casino strip is interesting for its over the top architecture, although inside all the casinos follow basically the same formula, it's just the decor that changes. Unless you like [censored] American food, you are going to have a hard time finding somewhere decent to eat. Last time we were there, we stayed at Bellagio, which had a semi-reasonable Italian restaurant that served edible meals.

If you have time, hire a car and go check out Hoover Dam, which is about 40 miles out of town.

Las Vegas' main claim to fame (aside from the gambling) is its shows, with some big name performers appearing. So check out what's on when you hit town and take in one of those.

Just remember that Americans are stupid and cannot understand any other accent and you will be fine. 😉

Well, you'll have more fun than I did because the exchange rate was .49 rather than .88 that it is now.

Basically Vegas is an abomination that only makes sense at 3am when you're [censored]. A truely god-awful hell-hole.

Oh, and bring photo ID everywhere. It's not like here where if it's patently obvious you're over 21, they'll let you in. Learned that one the hard way. Tough to have a big night out when the only place you can get into is Wendys.

I'm positive I'm the only person to have visited Vegas and not gambled a cent.

Okay, what else......hrm......don't bother with 'please' and 'thank you's', it only confuses them. Use as few words as possible. Those in the service industry are used to being abused, so if you want anything, just scream "I want one of those and one of those and one of those RIGHT HERE!".

Don't forget to tip. 10% at a minimum. Wages are [censored] there, and some people actually work on 'gratuity' only. Again, won't feel so bad with the current exchange rate.

Samuel Adams is actually quite drinkable and available from 7-11 and the like. Very handy if you couldn't be arsed going out.

Coffee is totally [censored] almost everywhere. Don't feel bad about resorting to Starbucks if you're hangin' out.

If you're tight and need a grease fix, don't forget the all you can eat buffet brekkies at most hotels.

Lets see......casinos.....um, been to Star City twice for a total of 6 hours. Darwin C 3 times. Canberra & Perth Cs once each. Total punt....zilch.
