Does anyone have strange thoughts while running? Personally I like to
think of pardoxes or the unknown but sometimes I will make up my own
little plots. My g/f said she think about "wierd" things for
instance: "why is the sky blue", If you look into a mirror what if
that is another world, are two if someone is really interested I could
get the rest

get the restI often think about what I will eat for lunch when I get back.
Sometimes I will think about a work problem.
Sometimes I will obsess over a to-do list, I don't know why but
running always makes me remember things I need to do that I had
totally forgotten about.Otherwise, I try to stop thinking/internalizing and instead stay in
the moment. Kind of like a daily meditation. But it's not always easy,
especially when lunch is calling to me!jen

think about finances, friends, plans for the rest of the day/week. I
think about how I will feel crossing the finish line of the next race.
My most religious experience to date came on me while I was running
one day. Last week I ran with my ipod and made a connection with
Meatloaf's song, "Bat Out of Hell". Especially this part,"And the last thing I see is my heart
Still beating
Breaking out of my body
And flying away
Like a bat out of hell"When I really listened to the lyrics I saw the connection between the
words and my losing weight and starting to run.Or, I guess I think of weird things, like Gary's g/f.

He would probably be more upset that I might think she is weird.

Lately, I had been imagine my heart pumping the chemo directly
to Fred the [censored] (my tumor). I would also imagine my white blood
cells jack hammering away at his head. When my relationship of 7
months
bailed on me after my fourth chemo treatment, my initial few runs were
spent imagining kicking him in the shins everytime he requests that
we maintain our friendship. :-)I have never been a very mindful runner, but then again, I am a Yoga
flunky
and was always the kid picking grass in the outfield...so last night's
run
was more about people watching, observing, and scenerio playing than
kicking shins or jack hammering [censored].Erika

The videos of his GF and a donkey, pretty much guarantee it.

Typically I listen to ESPN radio or some other talk show or podcast so
I am focused on whatever is being talked about.John

When I run, I think of nothing that I can remember afterwards.

ElflordThat would be a meditation or like it (clear the mind). I've had few
runs like that however I guess I sort of use it as a stress reliever
(even though I have relativly few in my live) -

ErikaWow, that was me too! :-) Three reasons I ended up at Second Base:
1.) Coach (Dad) hoped I would be terminated by a line drive; 2.) from
the infield I had slightly more chance of throwing all the way to
home; 3.) no grass to distract me.Really though I think I do more feeling than thinking while running --
both the emotional kind and the sensation kind. Thinking-brain
speaker volume gets turned down. And the dumber the joke the funnier
it seems!

Once in awhile Claude and I discuss quantum mechanics, string theory,
and time. I seen to understand it best while running (I think!). I like
to imagine what I'd do if I won the lottery. I even imagine me, myself,
a 50-year old woman, winning the Olympic Marathon or Badwater. My mind
seems to be at it's sharpest and most imaginative while running. I love
it!Teresa in AZ

water treatment / carrying issues, "why did I decide to try 30sec/30sec
workouts on a twisty single track (without having watch set to beep
every 30 sec)", etc.Dot

cellphone or call my answering machine at home. Problem solving happens also
if there's some big project I'm working on. The best runs seem to be when
the mind zones out and you finish the run and wonder where the time went. But today I was just thinking how much I didn't want to be out there
running, doing intervals with my feet hurting -- going through a really bad
spell for the last few weeks!-Tony

When I run my mind races almost as fast a my heart but usually doesn't
wander. Very much in the moment. Uneven sidewalk..lift leg a little
higher...[censored] pedestrian not paying attention..pass on the left or
right...jaywalk now or cross at the intersection and hope to catch the
lights...is my cadence fast enough or should I pump my arms more...etc etc
If I do run somewhere where my mind can wander I find myself thinking about
kicking TBR in the jimmies -

I don't know if it was the chemo that caused the separation vs. other
variables but after watching a few friends go through what you are
experiencing, some people can't handle the entire situation and run and
hide. Then again, you may cook with too much garlic or snore too loud.In any case. I'm staying on you good side to avoid any kicks or
jackhammers . 🙂-Doug

Kneecaps should do it--leaves a more lasting effect than anything higher
than that.--
