Alexandre Vinokourov (Kazakhstan), the winner of the Vuelta a España,
wasn't as lucky today as his chain came off in the middle of the 15
percent climb, but he said this didn't interfere with his chances for
the victory. "I had a hard time putting it back on, but the time I lost
only counted for second or third place, so it wasn't that important,"
he said in his typical laconic manner.

I remember once my chain came off on a 15% climb. It was really a pain
getting started again.

I remember once wishing, in a race, that my chain *would* come off on a 15%
climb. Or my frame break in half. Or some other catastrophic failure that
would put me out of my misery.

But of course I wasn't in a likely battle for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place any of
those times...

Vino's personal goals have no relationship at all to what I might
choose to find interesting. You spend way too much time worrying about
what other people do.

Oh, quit whining. Did you even notice that the Canadian
team is sponsored by Tim Horton's doughnuts and coffee?

No you didn't notice, and you call yourself a Master Fattie?
I'm revoking your Masters Fattie license. You'll have to
go back to the elite level and earn your way back up
to Masters Fattie status like the rest of us, the hard way,
eating, sleeping, doping and trash-talking.
