Not had the luxury of a few pennies until now to splash out on a nice bike for commuting to work, so I've been riding an old MTB with road tyres. Since my seat is hanging off for the third time in a couple of months (pretty much irreparable) and my front brake has just snapped, although previously useless anyway, I think its about time for my own safety!
I'm looking to buy second hand to get a little more for my money and although I am looking for a racing bike, I will consider a hybrid due to the London potholes. I'd like a nice fast bike for commuting the 6 miles each way, however as I'm not looking to compete, maybe I should just go for the hybrid!
Anyone got any ideas what I can pick up second hand for £300 to £400 quid? That's the budget, so no silly suggestions of doubling it!
Any guidance would be much appreciated!
