I don't think Basso will win, and I don't think it's enough to hold Ullrich
off either. Rasmussen is going to need to pick up some more seconds if he
wants to be on the podium. We'll see how much time he can gain in the last
3.1 km of stage 18.

Dear Morten Reippuert Knudsen,

Let me see if I understand your point. On the most difficult days so
far of the Tour, Ullrich finished ahead of Rasmussen. Therefore,
Rasmussen will blow him away on a Cat 2 climb. Sounds right.

Thanks,

Ed

Allright put your ass on the line and tell me who's gonna win it.
Whos gonna put time on who and how mush. It's quite easy to predict
that say who's not gonne do this a that, instead of predicting who's
gonna do what and by how much.

off course - i'm not implyimg that he won't, he shooting at stage 18
as i've mentioned before. an additional 25 seconds plus bonus seconds
might prove to be enough.

U seem to forget the the climb before that and the downhill, both
climbs are short but very very step. Those 12km wild be wild, a lot of
riders has their yes on that stage.

ahem.... remeber the Alpes?

stage 10: +2:14
stage 11: 0:00
stage 14: -0:31
stage 14: -0:04

To me it seems like M.Rasmussen has statistic in his favour - he's
2:39 up.

Besides the finnish on stage 18 (cat3 followed by decent until final
cat2) is way more nasty than most people think. The stage will be
ridden like a Classic due to the importance of the possible gains.
In fact it's perhaps the only stage where Rabobank team will have an
egde an be able to support M.Rasmussen very well. Compared to T-Mobile
they have prepaired for it.

Do you think that I do not know that Morten posts from Denmark?
Do you prefer that Morten reenforce these easily correctable

Next to the option "reply to group", you'll find an option "reply to
sender". You might consider using that instead. It has the advantage of
still being able to give Morten his unsolicited spelling lessons, but
without coming across as a pedantic twit (unless, of course, for that you
were aiming.)

Dear Morten Reippuert Knudsen,

That was then, this is now. In the Alps, Rasmussen was not as marked
as he is now and Ullrich was not riding as well. Therefore, your
"statistics" mean squat.

Thanks,

Ed

the other day I was going to post that Rasmussen probably never did a
time trial at his limit, ever, so how do we know how fast he can go?
Then Rasmussen cleared it up for us (cyclingnews):

Even if he doesn't increase his buffer, Rasmussen is relatively
confident that he can pull out a good ride. "I've never had the
pressure on me for a time-trial, so I never pushed myself to ride well
in them," he told Dutch TV. "Now it's different and I know I will be
able to perform well on Saturday. Tomorrow, I worry about tomorrow and
the day after about that day. I have almost three minutes to the fourth
place; the course on Saturday suits me very well."

Rasmussen's team director Erik Breukink was quoted in an interview with
De Telegraaf as saying, "The parcours of the time trial in St-Etienne
is far from flat. On Saturday, Michael has nearly three minutes on
Ullrich to play with. I don't know if it's enough, but I'm certainly
convinced that he can do a very good time. There are still other
chances."
