Had a scary incident with a BCC bus last week seeming to ignore the fact that to pass a cyclist you actually have to move over a bit not just give them 2 inches to spare then move left before that big back wheel has passed - so I rang BCC and reported the near-death experience and received very positive feedback from them and the transport dept. Treated seriously, driver identified and spoken to, encouraged to continue riding as "you have every right as a vehicle to be on the road" and also told that heaps of BCC drivers are now encouraged to ride to and from work and some are even starting to tackle Mt Glorious....... So make sure you ring up about any bad incidents, identify the bus if you can, it appears to be worth the effort!

The response to a complaint of mine to a similar, perhaps worse, incident was a deafening silence, Mount Dandy bus service.

thats a really positive outcome emvee! its sad that you had to have this encounter with a bus driver; ive found most of the bus drivers in brisbane to be courteous and patient.

the same cant be said about car drivers, or the majority of taxis!

im glad to know if ever there was a time that i did have an encounter with a bus and its driver, that my complaint would be taken seriously.
Its also really positive that the council is encouraging its employees to employ people powered transport alternatives! its not like brisbane is the easiest city to commute in (unless you luuuurrrve hillclimbs) but its good to know people are putting in the effort!

    big thumbs up for BCC!

I have to say most of the time i have no trouble with bus drivers but i live in New Farm and bike riding is pretty common atm with the number of people using the floating walkway. Mind u this is on moray street most of the time they will hang back until you detour off onto the bike route or your destination
