You're familiar the use of metaphors right?

    Bien Jouaayy!

    I like.

  3. Aussie to an Aus immigrant: "What's a metaphor?"

New Australian, with heavy Southern Euro accent: "Ah yes, da MET is for the bus and the trains."

Ha. Bad, but clean joke. Hee hee

  4. I thought for a second that Cantwell was Jill-Bear, and I thought, "What the farkins?! Jill-Bear at Sandown? And when did he change teams?" :-)

Metaphor - I only have two legs. Phor is too many.

  6. Inevitable I guess, damn not many left from that generation.

Baden Cooke announces retirement Australian Baden Cooke has announced his retirement after 14 years in the professional peloton having won over 50 races in his career during stints with FDJ, Saxo Bank and Orica-GreenEdge. Cooke spent the last two seasons with the Australian WorldTour team. Cooke's announcement follows speculation he would retire at the end of season with his contract expiring this year.

  7. It's funny how some things stick in ya head.

I once read about Cooke a few years ago being super frustrated because he'd be unable to race due a leg injury; an injury for which he'd obviously had tonnes of treatment, but wasn't effective enough. One day, at the height of his frustration, he stopped during a training ride, sat on a rock or a bench, and stared across the horizon as he pondered his possibly-bleak future in cycling. As he sat there, trying to get comfortable, he rested his foot on something. When he shifted around, he inadvertently found his injury being stretch in a way they felt ten times better than all stuff he'd done in the billion hours of physio he'd had with the experts. So, he obviously focused on doing this weird stretch more often, and was soon back racing.

    Jee, good story, grandpa
Ha. I think it's in one of the Aus magazines.

I head a similar thing with O'Grady. Suffering a wrist injury from one of his many falls. It never settled down. One night, on the [censored], he punched a taxi driver fair in the mouth before the TdU, and it righted itself.

*I made this up. Still a better story than sitting on a rock.

    heheh 🙂

    THAT is a good story.

    I'd actually believe it

    Atta boy...

  11. [censored] there was a lot of psycho muthas on the road this afternoon, hot weather must bring 'em out.

  12. Five years ago the people against Masters starting at 30 all said 35+. Today the same people are saying 40+ should be the starting point.

Is this really such an issue for the handful of races we do that aren't club/all-in/whatever races?

Let me draw this in a [censored] graph..

    [IMG]cyclingforums.com1000[/IMG]

X axis - Age of those complaining.
Y axis - Age they think Masters/Vets should start.

Mark my words. Cycling will be in the same state in 2018. Same issues. Same [censored] going in circles. Nothing getting done.

  13. Ha ha ha. That is ace Shane. Fortunately I'm well ahead of that curve so I don't have to put up with all the bollox what comes your way. p.s. You are a skinny cnut. Tres impressive.

Why weren't you at Kew? You could have been chin-wagging with me and Llama. You can't avoid us forever you know. And how come the forum takes forever* to open the edit screen when you reply for the first time after logging on? * forever = anything over a nano-second

Yep. :big-smile: And yep - just the first time you reply and then it's okay. Everything else zings along.
