You are a newbie to computers and usenet. You don't understand what this
newsgroup is for. It is not for you! It WAS for recumbent bicycles, but
you and you alone, not Tom, not Cletus, not me, have essentially ruined this
newsgroup. I have a feeling everywhere you have gone in your life people
have hated you. You are now alone, holed up in Worthington, and your only
existence is probably your computer because no one else will talk to you.

Perry, I am guessing that by accusing Ed of single handedly ruining
the newsgroup, you don't agree with his politics. On this newsgroup,
you are not alone. That's fine. But this group is not ruined. I
post infrequently. Yet when I do, I consistently get valuable
information to my questions every time. As for Ed's contribution, I
    certainly hopes it continues.

Well, I would not say 'Single handedly' He has had quite a bit of help from a few others. Does
that include you? Take a look at recent posts and hijacked threads including this one. There is
very little meaningful recumbent content. People have gotten tired of Ed's foul mouthed drivel.
Those that could be posting relevant topics have left or like me only check in infrequently.

Maybe you used to get valuable information from this NG. Try posting a pertinent question now.

If you are guessing that those that see Ed as having a negative impact on this NG oppose his
politics, you are wrong. My political leanings are a lot closer to Ed's than Tom's. I just choose
not to try to inflict my political opinion into an area where it does not belong.

If this NG ever recovers from the damage inflicted by Ed, Tom and a few others, it will be when Ed
is no longer a part of it.

  3. Cletus is 100% correct. ARBR used to be an excellent source of a LOT of
information and ideas about recumbents. That hasn't been the case for a long
time, now. I find BROL, a well-managed website devoted exclusively to
recumbents, far, far better than ARBR.

Jim, the main thing that is going to cause me to leave this newsgroup
are all the problems I have posting with my Google and/or my OE
newsreader. That is the kind of aggravation that I can't take. The
kind of aggravation that I get from others on this newsgroup is all
fun and games and I enjoy the sport.

There is no more chance of a character like Perry or Sherman driving
me off of this newsgroup than there is of the earth reversing its
rotation. But I do like to have some substance in my posts and so I
believe I will keep my invective short and sweet from now on when I am
confronting a message that is just full of nothing but personal [censored].

Cletus wouldn't know an on topic subject thread from a hole in the
wall. He even thinks this thread has been hijacked by me when I am
totally on the subject of the thread. But notice, he does not like
which side of the issue I am on - and so therefore the thread has been
hijacked. That is the way he is about everything. You had best agree
with him or you will be castigated for being off topic. What a nut!

This thread is all about housekeeping here on ARBR. Therefore it is
only slightly off topic with respect to recumbents, but even an off
topic thread has a proper subject. Cletus cannot make these elementary
distinctions. It is all a mush in his head. Unless he sees the magic
word P-38, he thinks it is off topic.

    Quoted message said:

Maybe you used to get valuable information from this NG. Try posting a pertinent question now.

There is no difference between then and now. You are always here to
give your wrongheaded advice to all the inquiring newbies. You never
tire of it. Why don't you get your own website like Mr. Ball over
there on BROL where you can be a kind of guru like him and not have to
    suffer fools like me.

As I recall you never had anything to say in opposition to Sherman et
al who were truly ruining this newsgroup. Those who acquiesce in evil
are equally guilty and so now you are reaping the whirlwind (me). You
should have spoken up when presented with the challenge. That you
didn't speak up tells volumes about you.

It will only be when those others are also not part of it. The days
when everyone else would just sit back and let Sherman and his ilk
have their say without any challenge are over and done with. Get use
to it. Or better yet, get gone to BROL (and take Perry with you as he
will be happier over there too). You need a baby sitter and Ball will
oblige as that is what he does best. He will no doubt permit liberal
rants on his site since he thought they were just fine here on ARBR.
Like you, he only got upset when those liberal rants got challenged by
    me.

    Hmmm,
Cletus: commutes, tours, travels, and consistently offers thoughtful
(although occasionally opinionated) advice to questions asked about
recumbents. He gets peeved when someone (not just Ed either) breaks wind
all over the newsgroup and calls it good writing. No surprise there, lots
    of people do.

Troll Boy: has made a couple of posts about recumbents, lately in the

and on about how smart he is and how good of a writer he is and how
everyone he knows likes him and how it isn't his fault if his posts are off
topic and he responds to the same article whole bunches of times and anyway
life isn't much fun since even Google is choking on him and even his own

is much less intelligent or pink or something and where's Tom anyway cause
it's boring just yelling into the mirror and nobody likes him waaaaaaaaaa.

Dullards like you two deserve one another. Neither one of you ever
have much to say about anything except to make your monthly complaints

You are never going to get any awards for good writing yourself, but
you are about on a par for this newsgroup, which is to say, terrible.
Only great writers like Tolstoy should ever attempt long sentences. I
mean, who do you think you are anyway?

By the way, I note that my writing is not so bad that a lot of it did
not stick in your mind. I have come to the conclusion that most here
enjoy my writing whether it is on or off topic. That is what all these
complaining threads are really about. They are nothing but an
opportunity for the rest of you to engage me in discussion.

I see it as my function here to sweep up all the [censored] that falls to
the floor (mainly liberal rants). It is not a pleasant job, but
someone has to do it. Anyone with half a brain would be thanking me,
but as we all know there are not too many on this newsgroup who have
even half a brain. I give you Cletus as a prime example.

But admittedly, we can't all be scholars and gentlemen. Some of us
have to play the role of fools and act as foils for the very few who
are intelligent. Congratulations on your accession to the role.

I like the waaa... Did you make that up all by yourself?

Dolan paints Cletus and Tom with the same broad brush,--
now that's got to be a pretty clear indication that he's just
trolling, strutting a pose in the newsgroup, or is truly
incapable or uncaring of making even trivial distinctions.

It has been suggest before that Dolan is Tom's sock puppet.
I propose that Dolan is Fabrizio Mazzoleni's alter-alter ego.
Just think, has anyone ever seen Fabrizio and Dolan riding
in a paceline together (or riding at all)? They must be the

I really appreciate your compliment. It means a lot. Nearly five years ago I found this NG as a
newbie and learned a lot a lot recumbents. I sincerely hope that I have been able to give back
some of what I gained here. I've made a lot of friends. Met some in person too. Because of this NG
I have international contacts in the recumbent community. Since Ed's arrival that has all changed.

You are on record as saying that you hope Ed's contribution continues. As long as it continues,

You can watch it happen and note the acceleration of the loss of the regular posters over the last

as you say, "foul mouthed drivel."

How am I targeting anything, pray tell? I post what I want and
everyone else here is perfectly free to post what they want. You do
not make any sense and you never have. You are at least consistent
that way. By the way, there is no one on this newsgroup who eggs me on
more than you do. But of course you already know that.

If you are guessing that those that see Ed as having a negative
impact on this NG oppose his politics, you are wrong. My political
leanings are a lot closer to Ed's than Tom's.

Others have said the same thing to me on this newsgroup (Cletus), but
I don't believe you. Where the hell were you when Sherman and his ilk
were all over the place mouthing their disgusting and revolting
opinions? You were with him. But honesty has never been one of your
virtues. You are ever the double-talker which passes for deep think
    with you.

    Quoted message said:

Dolan paints Cletus and Tom with the same broad brush,--
now that's got to be a pretty clear indication that he's just
trolling, strutting a pose in the newsgroup, or is truly
incapable or uncaring of making even trivial distinctions.

Nope, all my angers are genuine. Sherman irritates me one way, Cletus
irritates me another way. You of course fall into a category of your
own and are unique for being beyond irritating. You engender suicidal
    thoughts.

    Quoted message said:

It has been suggest before that Dolan is Tom's sock puppet.
I propose that Dolan is Fabrizio Mazzoleni's alter-alter ego.
Just think, has anyone ever seen Fabrizio and Dolan riding
in a paceline together (or riding at all)? They must be the
    same person!

Pitiable vitriol-spouting, pinko-fighting, former librarian by night,--
    self-parodying spandex-sporting, wedgie-riding, pretend Italian
    by day!

Now we are seeing the real Meinecke like a peacock in all his plumage.
He means to compete with me in the arena of wit and wisdom. But poor
Fab is not even in my class. He is a one note Johnny (a piccolo
player) and I am a conductor of a vast symphony orchestra.

It constantly amazes me how many of you think that riding your bikes
is the one thing you apparently do best in this world and how you hold
it against anyone who does not ride hundreds of miles each and every
day. I will admit now that the years are starting to catch up with me
(and they will you too - every last one of you without exception) that
I only ride my bikes now for maybe an hour a day. I used to go out for
almost 4 hours everyday. Fast I never was, but very good for time and
distance. But in any event, I don't throw it up to anyone how many
miles or hours he spends on his bike. That is just so, so childish - I
    can't tell you!

PS. I take it that all of you who are writing in to complain about
off-topic posts and about how this newsgroup is being ruined by them
are actually my biggest fans. I thank you one and all! It is truly
appreciated and I am very grateful and humbled by your many
    enthusiastic responses to my posts.

Cletus, I hope that my infrequent posts have not contributed to the
"ruin" of this newsgroup. As for meaningful recumbent content, I have
found quite a bit of that in your postings over the years. For that,
    I say thank you.

    Jim,

I really appreciate your compliment. It means a lot. Nearly five years ago I found this NG as a
newbie and learned a lot a lot recumbents.

Why the hell weren't you reading RCN like the rest of us? Anyone who
comes to a newsgroup to learn much has got to have rocks in his head.

    Quoted message said:

I sincerely hope that I have been able to give back
some of what I gained here. I've made a lot of friends. Met some in person too. Because of this NG
I have international contacts in the recumbent community. Since Ed's arrival that has all changed.

Old Cletus and I have totally different perspectives on newsgroups. He
has been handing out bum advice ever since I have been reading him.
His true character comes out when you disagree with him about
something. That happens often as he is never right about anything. He
does not give advice; he pontificates! He ought to have been a
    preacher.

Also, anyone who comes to a newsgroup to seek friends has got to have
rocks in his head (or did I already say that). Isn't Houston big
enough for him to find someone there who will put up with him let
alone like him. Maybe he should get a dog or some cats to keep him
company if he is on a newsgroup making friends. Well, we all know by
now that he has made at least one enemy too. Good Grief! Now I have
    heard everything.

    Quoted message said:

You are on record as saying that you hope Ed's contribution continues. As long as it continues,
folks with useful content and important questions will be driven away.

You can watch it happen and note the acceleration of the loss of the regular posters over the last
    year.

I do not see why this should occur at all. I have never in the
slightest interfered with what anyone has to say about on topic
subjects. It is only when you get off topic (especially on politics,
but other subjects too) that you will encounter me. Stay on topic and
you are 100% safe. Get off topic and I will be here for you. I do not
see what all the fuss is about.

Cletus thinks a newsgroup should be all about good feelings. I do not
see it that way. A newsgroup should be about stimulating and exciting
discussion. If it were up to him, we would do nothing but drone on and
on about the same old subjects for all eternity like he does. The ones
who like this sort of thing are like little dictators. Before you know
it, they have carved out their kingdoms where they rule with an iron
fist. That is why they can't stand the likes of me. I won't play along
    with them on their agendas.

It is too bad we can't vote Mr. Dolan 'off the island'.

What makes you think that if we could vote that you wouldn't be voted
out of here? Some folks here prefer excitement to dullness, which you
personify. Even Mikael of Copenhagen is not as dull as you are. In
short, you take the cake for being a monotonous drone.

My canoe is packed. There are other islands. Life is too short. I don't have to put up with
    jerks.

Thanks for calling me a jerk. Coming from you that is a compliment. I
thought you might be brain dead by now, but if you can call me a jerk
there is a bit of life in the old noggin after all. Now don't you feel
    better?

My only regret is that old Cletus won't read what I have just said
about him because he has kill filed me. But there he is with his ass
sticking up over the horizon and his head buried in the ground. He is
ever the ostrich supreme. Frankly, if I were into it with some one I
would at least want to know what is being said about me and of course
I would want to respond. But not Cletus! He is an ostrich, a most
    fantastical species of bird.

Damn it all to hell, there is strictly no praying allowed here on
Usenet. As a liberal you ought to know better than that.

Now if you wanted to say a little prayer here for the success of our
mission in Iraq that would be acceptable to me, even though I am an
atheist. But I suppose like all liberals you are always praying for
the wrong thing. Since that is the case, it is better that you don't
    pray at all.

Ed, I started with this newsgroup, almost five years ago (like
Cletus). I may have rocks in my head (some would argue that meant I
finally filled it with something!). Truth is that I found out about
RCN on this newsgroup. And while I love RCN, I still rely on this
group for customization ideas. Just last week I asked about
retrofitting a midship rack for an EasyRacers to a Stratus ($35 rack
vs $125 for the Stratus rack). One day later I got a post that said,
it was no problem with a few adjustments and a couple of pipe clamps!
As for Cletus, in 99 when I started out with my Stratus to commute to
work, he was tricking out the same bike to do the same. Cletus, you
had some great ideas as far as mounting a rear rack, mouunting lights
to avoid the fairing, and other great stuff. I implemented several.
So while I haven't agreed with all of Cletus's advice over the years,
I don't believe it is "bum".

    Jim
