My bike broke down the other day and I had to walk to work. I came to
the busy and complicated junction just down the road from my house and
crossed it, turning right as I usually do. I then realised I was
walking down the road, away from the junction, _in the cycle lane_,
instead of on the pavement!

Upon the miasma of midnight, a darkling spirit identified as passing

So all the pedestrians one meets on the cycle side of shared use paths
are actually fellow cyclists who just happen to have forgotten / not
been able to bring their bicycles?

That explains a *lot*...

So the next time we see someone walking on the cycle lane, instead of
telling them where to walk, we should stop and offer mechanical
assistance to their invisible bike.
