Hello! Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Last week I decided to take the plunge into the cycling world and bought a Specialized Venge Shiv Pro UI2 (I think that's what it's called, lol). Spent a pretty penny on her so I want to be sure that I maintain it well.

What is the best lube for my chain? I live in Orlando, Florida. Summer time gives us Floridians random showers/thunderstorms and sometimes when I ride it may be a little wet on the ground.

I've been reading up on lubes and some are better than others it seems depending on locations/conditions, although the reviews don't give me specific information.

Which lube should I be using on my chain given the Florida climate?

Thanks in advance!

A specialized venge-shiv ???

Water is probably pretty much a problem whatever the lube... Dust can be prevented with a teflon lube. Then different lubes for cold or hot conditions.

This lube manufacturers website it probably has alot of info:

Alligator fat. Or manatee blubber, if you are along an inland coastal waterway.

Alternatively, almost any automotive non-detergent oil will work fine. Or get spendy and use Finish Line 'Wet'. Or really wow your friends with the new 'Ceramic' formulation. Clean the chain every couple of weeks enjoy the humidity ride!

I like Chain-L: it does well in the wet as well as the dry. http://chain-l.com/

i moved into sea coast recently and my brake cables are already getting rust, chain is ok still, but whenever the bike gets wet is better to clean it and relube,

Thanks guys. I appreciate the tips! Picked up some ProLink today as well as Rock-n-Roll Gold. :)
