im trying to build a lightweight 700c road bike. have a paul milne alloy frame with chromoly forks, plain & simple. Think the biggest lump of steel here is the forks. handle bars and quill stem taken from an older ATB that I have. ie straight bars, and reckon on using carbon for the forks and perhaps alloy for bars and stem
however, carbon fork s can be quite pricey, so maybe titanium. any advice please, not to worried about specific brand names. So source of lightweight un branded would be fine, do need to fit mudguards. thanks

And you think titanium forks aren't? There are plenty of deals on CF forks. Try www.chucksbikes.com or ebay. Even performance and nashbar have deals. Mudgards can be a problem with current CF road forks. 700c cross forks have more clearance.
