Hello all,

I just bought a Specialized Comp bike the other day. While riding in it I noticed that there is a slight clicking sound. It only seems to occur when I'm in the 6th gear and the chain is on the middle wheel near the pedals. If I put it in 7th it will click more but if I go into 5th then I won't hear the clicking anymore. Is this bad?

There are a lot of things that can cause clicking. Is the chain skipping? Is it rubbing against one of the cogs? Is it unintentionally shifting from one cog to another?

In the meantime, check out Park Tool Website for basic maintenance.

Thanks for your reply guys. I tested it out the other day and believe the problem to be with the pedals. I had the default platform pedals replaced with the pd-a530 pedals. The clicking seems to occur when I shift to harder gears and I have to pedal harder. I will bring it back to bike shop and have them take a look at it.

Thanks!
