What is the correct way to attach the shifting cable in a Ultegra FD double?
this way?:
http://www.hostelshoppe.com/tech_frontderail.php
"On Shimano bottom pull derailleurs it is important to note that the cable runs UP AND OVER the leverage tab. Many people make the mistake of using the leverage tab as a cable pinch by running the cable UNDER the leverage tab - this changes the pulling leverage of the front shifter and makes it impossible to properly adjust the front derailleur."
OR this way?:
http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/t...001/SI_5JD0A_001_En_v1_m56577569830616200.pdf
But the diagram is unclear to me. Is it running between the leverage tab (or under the leverage tab) and the fixing bolt?

if the manufacturer's info was totally clear I would not be asking...

Thanks in advance

Up and over is correct. Agree it's an easy mistake to make, since the cable does fit nicely under the tab. Also agree the Shimano drawing isn't helpful at all.

I replaced a broken 105 FD with Ultegra and noticed ... not one jot of difference. Even the DA shifters don't work any better than the old 105.

I do notice a huge difference. IMHO the Ultegra is smoother, quieter, "quicker" than my 105 (and i kept my 105 pretty well tuned). The Ultegra front shifter is more responsive than 105. I'd say the difference is not as great on the RD but i still notice it...
of course, I'm also comparing a 105 chain to an ultegra chain...
