Hayes MX-2 Disc Brakes on Giant Cypress LX

I have Hayes MX-2 disc brakes on a Giant Cypress LX. The gap between the
outside seems good. Although it is new, and could be still have some
burnishing, it seems like the rotor is snagging the inside just a little.
How do I adjust that? Shims?

There should be an adjusting disc thingy on the inside between the caliper
and spokes. Unscrew that (counterclockwise when you're looking directly at
it). You may need to use your fingernails and/or tools to get it to turn.

You can also adjust your quick-release really tight.

You can also use a 5mm wrench to loosen the bolts that hold the caliper to
the IS bracket. Adjust with your eyes and fingers, one bolt at a time, then
tighten down.

The fixed inner pad is adjusted by sticking the long end of a 5mm allen
wrench through the spokes into a allen-head hole for it on the wheel
side of the caliper. Assuming that the caliper is mounted with the best
alignment possible, this would be the thing to adjust, if anything. I
think these brakes may also have a tiny grubnut thinger for security
that needs to be loosened before adjusting and tightened afterwards -
you'll see what I'm talking about if it's there.

Hopefully by "snagging" you just mean there's some rub. If it's not
really audible when you're riding the bike and isn't slowing/stopping
the wheel when you lift it up and spin it, then it may actually be
adjusted about as well as it can be.

Also, FYI in case you don't know- don't touch the rotor (or pads)
because they're both sensitive to oil, including skin oil, and if you
do touch them accidentally, clean the rotor with rubbing alcohol and a
clean rag BEFORE the pad next touches the rotor.
