Council cranks up bicycle scheme

Highland Council plans to boost its green credentials by spending up to
£150,000 on bicycles for staff.

The Cycle to Work scheme will also be opened up to councillors after
next May's elections.

Deputy chief executive Alistair Dodds said it was hoped the scheme
would help employees stay healthy and help the environment by cutting
congestion.

The council will buy the cycles and lease them to employees starting
from the end of May.
