With all the action in Tirreno and Paris-Nice, Lee is full of the joys of spring and the best races of the cycling season. OK, there is the Vuelta, Lombardy and the Worlds, but the spring is the hot bed of all that is beautiful in the sport. Sagan and Quintana are the stars of the moment, but let’s not forget ‘El Gurner’ – Tommy V!In many other sports such as ice hockey, basketball, football and soccer, theres a build up that goes on throughout the season. There are highlights throughout of course, big hits, scoring sprees, records broken and great games, but there is always the inevitable almost orgasmic explosion at the end when championships get battled over by the two best teams, a huge splurge of fan frenzy and player tension to find just who is the greatest.In cycling? Its not like that at all, and though we do have one rider crowned the World Number One come the end of Lombardia, when the seasons rider ranking points are tallied up, no one really cares except apart from the rider that wins, and maybe his Mum.World & Lombardia champion – Paolo BettiniIf anything, the cycling season is actually the wrong way around.
