Slightly OT: Geocoding rant

I'm trying to find a reverse geocoding service, so I can turn Bikely
longitude/latitude pairs into addresses - or at least suburb/state names.

So I found these guys
http://about.terrapages.com/TerraPages.htm
(if you can get past all the flash).

And their demo does exactly what I want... so I want to see what it
costs. I jump for the FAQ page which looks like this

http://about.terrapages.com/FAQBody.htm

"Possible questions could include:"

With NO bloody answers!!! It's a FAQ.. with no answers! Just questions!

On second glance it seems that they're obviously not a real operation,
and have just hooked into someone else's geocoder for the demo. The
question is, whose, and where can I get it?

Anyone an expert on (reverse) geocoding around here?

Hey Jules

Send me an email, damian dot mac at gmail dot com

I have a contact there, I'll ask the questions. Also, MS launched their
Aus maps yesterday too, they may have geocoding in their API. I'll
investigate.

I did some work years ago for Telstra's GIS people, they've probably
been sold off by now to fund a tax cut so punters can buy more plasma
TV's :(

But, they were doing this sort of stuff. I'll see if I can track down
any contacts....

One of my clients is doing GIS stuff for road management, they may know
something too, send me your email address and I'll put you in touch
with 'em

Lots of big empty space out there, eh?

They skip the teaching of "8" and "G" in the public schools as part of
the "No Child Leaves Behinded" program. Too spendy.

Heh - have you ever been out near some of this more lonely looking
crosses? I think you'll find pretty much all of that that isn't solid
red pretty much classifies as "big empty space"...

big (wondering why I never thought of doing that!)
