Hi! :)

I've been searching about this for quite a while and cant find any info about it. Maybe because this is so new.

Specialized is now has some bikes in a color they call "Rocket Red". It's not really red, more like orange.

But what's interesting about is that they say that if the bike is left exposed in sunlight, the color will change!

So what color does it turn to??? B)

From the Spec. website:

  • The custom color—Rocket Red—is designed to naturally age over time. It will exhibit splashes of a dark rich color when exposed to prolonged direct sunlight. This finish is deliberate and therefore not covered under the traditional warranty policy.

So...Rocket Red is faster than Ferrari Red? At least until it 'naturally' ages. Then it looks like any other ratty old bike.

It's probably faster then Moskvitch Brown... :D

What color does it turn into though? If it starts having some purple splashes on it, it would be quite trippy. :p

Is this a paint that is available on the open market, or a proprietary product available for one brand of bike?

I think it's a Specialized thing... But there are lots of paints that change color in the sunlight. Usually temporary though... and there are also some which are changing color according to temperature, like that one:
