Actually, I understand her concern. I've been amazed at times of just
how much personal information people divulge in a public forum
newsgroups.

May I suggest that you lurk for a while, quietly? You may find that
the few who have been giving you a hard time are just a stupid minority

With nothing better to do, I had to go dig up the thread in
question.

The whole thing is kinda weird. It's obviously been using Usenet
for a while. My guess is that it's been here before under another
name and may want to save some embarrassment. Looking at the
first few posts it made, it's not a newbie to RFC.

I'd bet it lives in southern Florida.

She's just disappointed that I didn't actually ask for her snail mail
address and phone number... I mean I don't think saying you live in
Europe, or Australia, or Antarctica invades any privacy... It's not
like I asked her bra size. And even then she could have just said she
lives in Grand Teaton, Wyoming and wears a 38 DD.

I really don't think we need any no sense of humor newbies here,
especially when they don't even have any cooking expertise to offer.

I understand this privacy thing, within reason. I didn't know she'd get
so upset about me pointing out that Eastern time zone thing to Michael.
That narrows it down to, what, 1/24th of the world?

At least now she knows to change her time zone settings when she comes
back in a little while with a new moniker. Using a proxy server is
overkill; the location of ones news server doesn't really give much info.

Yeah, well, it's their information to give if they want to. If
someone else posts personal info, that's crappy (not that an ISP in the
world cares about it nowadays), but if it's their own info it's none of

I'm wondering if if isn't Sheryl Rosen or Martha Hughes, it's the kind
of juvenile nonsense they'd engage in...when they've gotton pi$$ed off
in this and other groups they've always made a big hairy deal out of
leaving in a glorious huff...
