What's with all the stomach problems?

Look at today's cyclingnews report; it states Ullrich, Sunderland and Perez all have stomach problems preventing them from entering Worlds. Not to mention Tyler's withrawal from the Vuelta as a result of stomach problems. What gives?

It's a bad year for stomach flue. It'll probably come through here in
another month.

Ullrich often has stomach problems over the winter.

He does. There was a pretty nasty virus going round during the Vuelta.

Vino fell ill in the first (?) 'wave' and had already recovered when he left
the Vuelta.
