In this months Isere magazine (see above scan), details have been published
of travel arrangements on the day of the Alpe d'Huez time trial. The road
between Vizille and Bourg d'Oisans will be closed for the day to automobile
traffic from 06:00 on the 21st July.

200 coaches will be running every minute from 05:00 to 11:00 to take
spectators to the foot of Alpe d'Huez. The cost of a return ticket will be 5
Euro. There are three departures, the Grenoble bus station, Alpexpo and the
Domaine Universitie in St Martin d'Heres, and places are assured on the
coaches between 05:00 and 08:00. The return trips will start from 16:00 in
Bourg d'Oisans.

For more information, you can call +33 (0) 4 76 26 17 32.

I hope that this helps if you're coming across.

Cheers, Russell

Russell: Some were saying that the roads would be closed even to bikes from
0600-on. You, however, mention only automobile traffic. So, bicycles
*will* be allowed in?

Hello Mike

I hope that you are well.

If you look at the advertisment that I link to, it says closed to
automobiles from 6:00AM. Just to confirm, I've called the number and spoke
to the lady there. She has told me that the route will be open to cycles on
the day, but to be careful of the frequent buses.

Have a great tour.

Cheers, Russell

Let me just update my English....

200 coaches will be running on the day, with one leaving every minute from
05:00 to 11:00 to take spectators to the foot of Alpe d'Huez.

It's not 200 coaches a minute. :)

Cheers, Russell
